Hi everyone, first time posting.
Bit of bad luck, I have 2012 d4 (91k miles) which had 2 year warranty from LR until 2 months ago and I didnt extend as not really had any issues. It was due service just before warranty expired (big one as well) so I took a conscious decision to service it at my local independent specialising in LR ( Whites Auto Services in Edinburgh). Until then it was full main dealer services.
Very recently started getting restricted performance error and upon investigating by Whites they told me its drivers side top manifold is cracked and leaking boost. Having had a look online it is quite common and there is TSB stating that original part was not manufactured to specification (LR admitting faulty part!!).
Now I have been quoted 700 for one and 1100 for two at local independent as its about 10hrs labour for two. Quotes from LR I have read other people received were 2k+...
I want to explore an options of asking LR to cover full or part of the cost since they admitted part is not up to specification and car has been under warranty until recently. They are however stating I would need to first pay 150 for diagnosis before my dealer would ask headoffice if LR would be willing to contribute at all.
In your experience how likely it is that LR would cover the cost considering circumstances? Paying 150 just to hear point blank "no can do" is sort of a waste of money.
Or should I just bite the bullet and have them replaced by indy?
