hi im getting 27mpg on a normal run 17mpg when towing caravan is this about average also any tips how i can improve this im told you can blank something off on the manifold any info would be great ta
mine does exactly 26mpg combined, de-egr'd, td5alive re-map, no cat or mid box and its an auto, weirdly it makes no difference fully laden (including roofrack) or not...
2000 Td5 140,000 miles with Tunit chip set halfway. Closing on 600 miles to the first tank since oils and filters change, mix of town, urban and motorway use. Was doing 450 - 480 per tank, once got 390 on supermarket fuel. The chap I bought it off a year ago said they had serviced it, load of bollocks.
1999 TD5 manual 155K miles, no mods just regular service. With the usual mix of driving I get between 475 - 490 miles from a tank in the Winter months and around 510 - 530 in the warmer months.
I've just blanked off the EGR but yet to complete a full tank since so can't comment on any fuel consumption improvements other than it definitely seems a little more responsive.
Just bought my 03 Disco with 80k on clock and have done a few tests.
Average 80mph on motorway - 28mpg
Average 70mph on motorway - 34mpg
Mixed econ on a full tank - 450 miles and 26mpg
Am thinking about a re-map, does it improve economy?
Just be interested to know if you guys getting more than 26-27 have air-con/ACE/18" wheels fitted.
I'm sure one or a combination of these extras causes considerable drag on the consumption.

I run a 2001 TD5 ES with ACE, 18" wheels and A/C (off). I only ever use the Disco for towing, and I`ll get between 430-480 on a full tank. This is towing upto 3500kg too, but mainly motorway driving. I don`t know how others feel about their economy, but I`m pretty chuffed with mine. Oh, it`s got an Autologic remap too.
