Three of the hoses had been replaced with silicone hoses recently, the two running off the turbo and from the intercooler to inlet manifold

And by checking your meaning physical taking them off and having a look inside

yes mate, what about the air intake hose to the air filter,if that has failed, you will not be getting any air into the engine, that will give you lots of smoke/non running etc.happened on a LDV van i drove. have you changed/checked the air cleaner lately?

I haven't looked at the air box today, early got parked up and is now struggling to fire up. Saying that it cranks and just doesn't want to fire.

Stupid question time where is the actuator located

This year the fuel filter had been done and I believe pump also. Let me find out

If more than a couple of months ago,it would not hurt to put a new one on,in case you have bought some **** fuel.
Presumably you can hear your fuel pump running when you switch ignition on.
Your original post sounds like fuel starvation to me despite the black smoke.

Yeah regular station I've been using. Filled right up to first click. Can hear pump also. Just going out and tried car again after levelling and now firing again so intermittent fault

Ok will check the air filter in the morning once in a better state. Is that a common issue at times it just gets sucked up there and guess is blocking the flow, hence at times not firing right?? Anything is worth a try

you should plug in a tester cos that symptom can have many causes and any fault code or lack of it can point you to the right direction, a fault code would tell you where to look and no code means it's fuel supply issue as it's not covered by diagnostics...that's the easy way IMO

Certain it's got diesel; driven 160 miles in total yesterday. Guess it would of conked out sooner.

I checked the ecu for the red plug also, that's dry no oil, wonder if my harness is playing up and miss firing.

Hopefully get it sorted one way today
