It's running that's a good thing so far. Just abit nervous how far to push her distance wise from home.

few things noted when changing the harness. The double o ring had pitted and was flush to the plug compared to the new one that was bulging out.

The connector joining the harness cable had started to collect oil. Even though checking the red plug at the ecu end like most say was dry. The top part from the ecu had oil, so cleaned that off also

Well you have fitted a new harness now,is it the genuine one,or the pattern part?

Very true. It's driven fine tonight. So all is good. Got to love owning a new car and finding all these issues.

Starter motor issue fixed
Three amigos fixed
Hopefully injector misfire rough running fixed
Now boot door leak from the seal

And hopefully get to then add off-roading expedition parts and take it to the west coast

glad it is running ok at last, long may it continue to do so.:)

Looks like that was the problem then!
BTW I commented on my first intro post here that I had my doubts about how oil in the loom would cause issues, this was based on my customers using oil as an insulator in power systems.

I also said on this thread that it must be something temperature related, what I didnt think of was how oil conductivity is increased when it gets hot!

In addition any "contamination" will probably increase conductivity as well.

Its actually very well documented (and argued about on other forums!)

I cant seem to post a link but google "oil conductivity temperature" a company called OELCHECK comes up, theres quite a good description of the process.

So that could explain why the oil/loom issue can manifest its self as the engine warms up.

Ok time to take off my anorak and enjoy Christmas eve in the snow!

Oh your lucky mark you have snow.

Scotland has nothing with us atm just sun lol.

Your right enough thought guess all those hear cycles on the look finally took its toll on a long journey and the vibrations through the engine.

I'm yet to clean down the old loom and see how brittle they become. I need to double check the connector plug and give it a good clean out today.

Least I have a spare in the boot now, as I read on disco2 website to change every 3 years as a preventive maintenance.

I'm assume the injector plugs can withstand oil being in the plug more than the actual harness plug to ecu.

Yes Im lucky, Im in Estonia, nice and snowy and -10 soon! -30 not uncommon. But we still have outside barbies, with lots of icy vodka!

Insulation probably ok, it may be a capacitance issue which could explain why the closely bunched wires in the loom are affected rather than the spread apart wires in the injector plugs.

just a theory though!

Enjoy Christmas!

After a week plus of running the disco with the new loom just pulled codes from the car.

So egr stuck open, time for a blanking kit I guess
The three air flow warning are these more the wiring side of things? I do have a second maf at hand to try it's not brand new but is Genuine.

The 160 can fault what is this all about can't find a description on a quick goodie search.

Happy new year all.
