Then it's like i said, just ask what you dont know how to rewire, you'll have to use the D1 instrument pack's plug and rewire it to everything needed
 
I can change the dash binnacle wireing over to the 300 but inside where it connects to d2 loom the connetion plugs are different type ??
 
For the D1 dash illumination and feed i'll tell you which wires to connect directly to the D2 circuit as to have lights and indications, it's easyer than make the D2 speedometer and tachometer work with the 300tdi... when the D1 instrument pack is addapted to the D2 dash you'll have to connect the wires coming out from the D1 instrument's plug to the wires goung into the D2 instrument's plug which doesnt fit if you see what i mean
 
so will I have to cut the plugs off at where they join the d 2 main loom the 2 square plugs ???
do you have a number that I can call you on to discuss think it would be easier for me to understand ??

You have to cut the wires from the square plugs connected into the D1 instrument pack then make connections to the wires which are connected to the D2's instrument pack as to have links with the feeds and wires into the engine bay which will be connected to the 300tdi's alternator, speed transducer and senders, you need RAVE for both vehicles to see the connector views and wire colours as i'll tell you ... i say again this is for the case when EVERYTHING on the D2 is in situ except the engine related wiring and the D2's dash is also complete except the instrument pack which you'll have to addapt the D1's to it's binnacle...i'll send you a PM with my phone number but we'll need this forum as to give you the information in writing to be able to follow it exactly

so as I see it just now I have to swap the binnacles over use the d1 wireing in the d1 dash
splice wires at the dash end to take signal wires to engine bay

the only thing I cant get is the d1 dash wireing plugs does not fit the plugs in the main loom ??
at my left leg harness ???

Now you lost me cos i dont understand what you mean.... if you transplant the d1 instrument pack into the d2 dash what plugs do you want to connect cos nothing will match
 
Re-read again what i said, my plan was to use the D2's body + dashboard as it is with everything on it except what was connected to the engine and chassis just transplant the D1's instrument pack into the binnacle if you can then from the square wires connected to the D1 instruments make connections to the square plugs which were connected to the D2's instruments, in those plugs are wires which are going into the engine bay too and feeds and everything you need...got it now
 
that could be good then my sons girlfriend is romainian but there in romainia just now so if things get difficult I could call him to get her to speak
but I think we can manage now
 
Prepare yourself with RAVE for both modells then when you are there i'll tell you the connector numbers and wire colours to know which wires from the D1 instrument pack to connect to the D2's wiring

if I had say both dashes in front of me could you tell me what numbers or colours to splice together and what they do ??

I am having difficulty in getting both raves on pc at same time i have the discs somewhere i got the 3oo 1 to hand but cant seem to get d2 disc
 
I can't work that way, tell me what year is the D1 and what year the D2, i'll give you the links only with the relevant files then learn the colour codes, you'll open the connector views in two tabs to see and take them one by one, i have to make the list myself this way so be patient cos it's not a piece of cake

Read the introduction to know the colour codes, first leter is the main colour of the wire the second is the trace (e.g. GP means green with purple trace), then i'll tell you the connector number and pins from D1 to D2 how to connect them... then you'll go in both to "connector" where you have the pin disposals with wire colours and concentrate to not mix things, i need some time to figure out all you need for the D1 but we'll get to the end of it eventually if something will not work after the swap we'll fix it then, for example as for you to understand how it will work i'll make you a list with all in the followin format: vehicle-Connector number-pin number- wire colour from d1 and the same where you have to connect it to the D2 connector:
D1-C222-2-LG to D2-C0230-19-LG , that's for the main feed .... can you work like that?, IMO it's not very hard for you, it's harder for me to identify them and write them down, just concentrate on the connector shape and pin disposals to not mix them, i'll come back witn the full list, for speedometer, tachometer, oil pressure warning and coolant temp i'm affrad you'll have to run wires from the pack's plug into the engine bay or i can find wires which were going from the D2 pack into the engine bay for other systems and splice into those... is it Ok for you this way?
