many moons ago i changed the front drum braked struts on a mk2 1.1 escort to disk braked ones... found the 11 inch wheels fouled the calipers so had to fit 13 inch wheels..would hardly go up hills at all in 4th was way overgeared... had to fit a 1.6 pinto from a capri then it would pull 90 in third.
how much bigger are the tyres , does dropping to forth enable it to go faster ?.
dont forget if youve changed the rolling radius of the tyres significantly your speedo will underread as well... easy way to check is to follow a mate at a set steady 40 (or whatever) and see what reading your gives.

Thing in this months LRO mag workshop section about a def 300 that wont go over 60. they reckon fuel injection pump is the prob..

I used have a saab 900 turbo IC fitted. A few mods to the hose and it worked fine.
It's still quite small though.

Now I have a saab 9000 turbo IC fitted. Much better and bigger.
As I have a mondeo radiator and electic fan, the big intercooler sits in front behind the grill.
Some fabrication but not much.
Made a cross bar and mount for the IC and some custom pipe work.

After the winter the next intercooler will be double the width of the saab one.:D

Mission---- to get 200hp from a 300 tdi:eek:

Forgot to add always running on WVO ;)

The tyres i have fitted are 235/80 r16 i reckon i have gained about 1.5 inch or so in height think the standard size was 235/70 r16. Thanks i will buy LRO tomorrow.

200bhp from a 300tdi won't be hard. De-cat, egr blank, stainless exhaust, bigger turbo, intercooler done, pan filter and then you should be there
