Wasnt hevey at all, hose piped it for a good 10mins and water ran clear
I'm afraid that doesn't mean the RAD is not partially blocked, the cores are very fine.
The manual cooler in the bottom of the RAD is not suitable for the Auto, remember it sits in hot water, I've always thought it's there to heat the oil on the manual to aid shifts LOL

Let me tell you it was a bit@h to get it out with the fan inHad to remove the slam panel and undo the brackets holding all the rads intercooler ect...
And yes removed the drain plug and back flushed it through it, as well as filling it swishing it about and tipping upsidedown. Tryed every way i could think of. Im happy its not blocked but still unsure if the baffle has sliped

Well it passed the sniff test:)
But then he told me if its cracked between the cylinders it wouldnt show on the test:(
But if it craked between the cylinders i cant see how that would affect the water pressure/temp:confused:
Or is he just chating ****e?

They crack into the water galleries around the valves. Sounds like he's bull****ting.

If it passed a sniff test, you are back to RAD, pump, Stat and viscous fan. You've eliminated the viscous so that leaves the other 3.

Im just looking at rads now
Most seem to be the ones for the manual with the oil cooler
Is the cooling efficiency the same as the one without the oil cooler?
Or anyone know were i can get a good quality one without been riped off
Gona get a new stat too just because there fairly cheep
And ill have a good look at the pump whilst im in there
Just needs to go buy a new spanner for the fan!! Fu@ked if i know were mine went

Personally I would not fir the manual RAD, do a search someone came up with a good supplier up your way a while back. Test any replacement stat by dangling it in boiling water, there have been a fair few reports of duff ones.

put a new rad in the other day replaced the stat too (just cos i was there a it was cheep)
and yesterday i was in heavy traffic about 5-10mph and noticed the temp sat just over half way about 1 oclock position my arse started to nip as i was on m62 and the road works meens no hard sholder for about 5 miles
anyway it stayed there for about 10 mins before the traffic started moving quicker and almost instanly the temp started droping to about the 11 oclock position where it stayed untill i got home
does this meen i still have a problem ? fan? or does that sound normal

What is the ratio of water to anti freeze?

atm its just water havent had chance to get any anti freeze yet, plus wanted to make sure id fixed it befopre adding that! dint want to just drop it out again in a few days if its not right!
With correct mix, you will find the cooling effect much better...!

Maybe the viscous fan is a bit tired.:)

This morning ive been on a 15mile round trip and when i got home i could hear hissing from under the bonnet
Turns out the rad cap was venting and the pipes were rock hard
Eventuly i got the cap off and ran the engine all was fine untill i reved it! water flowed up and out the expantion tank, not just a little eather.
Any ideas ?
I changed the rad and thermo a few months back and the head was tested at the same time and it was fine water pump looked ok too
