Evening all,

After changing the lift pump in the tank which was leaking, I had thought this was the reason it lost power and would not start. After jumping the relay to bleed the system at the injection pump. The engine will not start. There is plenty of diesel going to the injection pump.

When it is on ignition 2 I used to hear the pump clicking now there is nothing not sure if suppose to do this. Not having much luck with this RR.

Does anyone have any advice please?

Thanks

Or possibly loss of sync between engine ECU and BECM. If you slacken injector pipes from injectors and crank do you get fuel coming through?

there is no diesel coming through to injectors I will check again for sure only diesel is what was left in the pipes. On the face of it the wiring to the solenoid looks ok.

If the sync is out, how is this done as I don't have the software and car is stuck on driveway?

Thanks.

Check the that you get fuel with the filter removed and ignition turned on depending on year you may need to crank to get flow. If you have fuel there, refit the filter and check the connector at the bottom rear of the FIP, the red/white wire should have 12 volts with the ignition on, white wire is from the ECU and is grounded to operate modulation.
If you disconnected the battery while doing the lift pump, then Grrrrrr is probably right, loss of sync is stopping it starting. You need a Syncmate or a Nanocom, maybe there is someone nearby who could help? Have a look at the LZIR map.

Ok I will check the connections there is plenty of fuel going to the FIP no air. New pump in tank runs when relayed.

I took battery out as it was flat when it broke down last time so could be out of sync if wiring is ok to the FIP and solenoid.

Thanks for all your help....again.

Syncmate can be hired off Marty if no-one nearby can help. Rick-the-Pick is near Brighton, I think.

Did you follow the instructions to disconnect the battery as stated in manual. Most land rovers are the same, if not will cause problems. Ask me how I know

There is no need to disconnect battery whilst changing lift pump if ignition is left switched off. Or relay 12 is removed. However disconnecting battery is prudent to avoid accidents. On your model lift pump only runs with glow plugs on or when engine is running.

Totally agree always disconnect battery and as it was flat wanted to charge it overnight didn't fancy leaving on my car so brought battery in also had to top levels up didn't fancy doing that with battery in car. Probably not done myself any favours but safety comes first. Thanks for all tips and advice.

Top up the battery? Modern ones do not need topping up.

Evening All - Below is an update:

ovalandrover very kindly came to see me today to try and resolve the non-starting, below is what we found:

1. Plugged in the original set up to isolate out the PSI power box if that was the issue, still no start.
2. ECU and Becom checked on Nanacom, all synced.
3. Lift pump working fine.
4. Engine started briefly with some easy start then cut out.
5. No visible signs of damage to cabling.

We discussed that the only thing it could be is a faulty injection pump or some of the wiring is short somewhere.

Just updating if anyone had same issues and if it lead to a faulty FIP?
Thanks

Have you checked the operation of the stop solenoid in the FIP?
Also check the immobiliser, it can be turned off with the Nanocom as can the EKA.

FIP solenoid clicks wiring ok. Yes immobiliser was checked still wont start. There is lack of pressure from the injector side of the FIP.

Silly question, is there drive to the FIP? Also check the connector bottom rear of the FIP that controls modulation.

How can I check the drive please?

I will take inlet manifold off tomorrow have a proper look at where you said.

no fuel at injectors suggests FIP. Without it you can’t bleed the injectors off so it could be airlocked
No or little fuel at injectors could well be they have not been bled properly. Amongst other things. Injectors can only be bled by cranking engine with pipe nuts cracked.

Tried this little or no diesel. Checked fuel filter drained small amounts of water but mostly diesel. 12v supply going to FIP. I will renew fuel filter as it is old probably not helping.
