1996 4.0L gems. Thinking about buying a Hawkeye total diagnostic tool. Looking at the data sheet I can't see that it will diagnose and re-set airbag faults on a 96 . Is that correct or am I mis-reading the data sheet.

I believe the Hawkeye will do some stuff on a p38 but your better of spending a bit more and getting a nanocom from Blackbox solutions it will just about all you need on a p38 and save you money in no time at all

My only thoughts was that my current ( 1st ) p38 is probably a " gateway one" leading on to better things? I was hoping to buy a unit that could be used on any gems unit. Does the nanocom link to a specific vin or would I have to buy an extra license for my next vehicle?

Nanocom is not VIN locked....

On purchase you specify which engine type you have and it unlocks for that.....if you upgrade to a THOR or a Bosch EDC model, you pay a small license fee to unlock it for that too....

If it is just the EAS you have issues with then contact Datatek on here and ask about a cable and EAS unlock software.

If you need more serious diagnostics then the Nanocom is small, completely self-contained and has most things you'll need.
