may stir some ideas while you are there, have you got a copy of the electronics pdf mate with a map of what all the pins do and other stuff that is a bit over my head tbh

Yep have the full RAVE with the Electronic Library of schematics, connector pin outs, system operation etc....

Cheers though!

cool, i had a look through all the TSB's as well and couldn't see anything, keep the faith:)

Think i may have been teaching granny to suck something there :eek:

UPDATE:

OK, so I bought a replacement Instrument Pack from ebizzle (Emmots of Colne) and fitted that this evening....Will how to the top of dash removal, real simple.

Switched on fine, car starts etc etc.....

BUT STILL NO BLOODY DIAGNOSTIC CONNECTION....

Now, I wonder if it is my All Comms playing around but all this happened since the Xenon blew....but yer never know!

Will try the replacement IP with the replacement LCM, but I doubt that will do much.....but worth a shot!

So, the L322 will no doubt be off the road for a while as I sort the cooling system issue out, try and figure out this diagnostic issue and also whywhen you turn the headlights on, after 10 minutes or so, the Bells and Whistles start flashing up warnings!

Oh and to top it off, the P38 oil pump looks like it needs an overhaul (which isn't to bad a job, just a fecker as I had the timing cover off a couple of months ago...should have done it then I suppose....live and learn.

So with the BMW sold and gone, the Fiat 500 back in commission as baby transport and both Range Rovers playing silly buggers (alright the P38 is drivable...well they both are if you keep an eye on the temp gauge and etc) life is fun!

Plus the nights are drawing in leaving no daylight to do anything!

Joy....but that is Range Rover ownership for you!

Smoking, well at least mine would be if it gave me this much hassle..

Alternative all comms or faultmate still here if you need it Saint

Would like to try another diagnostic device just to rule that out....so if you're ever out Heathrow way, would appreciate it!

No wonder you use the handle "Saint" you must have the patience of a saint to deal with that L322.

It is testing a tad, but I love the vehicle and if my patience in finding the cause and rectifying it helps out on here then so much the better.

Luckily we didn't sell both the BMW and the Fiat , then I'd be stuck with two Range Rovers!

With the help and support of yourself, Tony, Andy and the rest of the LZ community I am sure we'll get to the bottom of it!

If I'd needed convincing not to buy an L322, yours would have done it:) Luckily I've never liked them.

True Keith,

But as I have said previously, where's the fun and sense of adventure....also we can't move forward by standing still.

It's a bit unfair being tarred with the same brush Keith  they are not that bad.:D
More and more failures on here and many are electronic causing all manner of problems, not forgetting the gearbox and VANOS problems, suspension bushes etc etc. I think the L322 is a HOS.

That made me laugh, especially with posts (not great if you are the sufferer) like http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f10/will-not-lock-unlock-269297.html and the fact that my rear lower tailgate now doesn't open.

I do think there is a place for a simple car (not necessarily a 4x4) whose only electronics are engine management and ABS)
Forget the ABS, just gearbox and engine as far as I'm concerned:)
Haven't done it on the P38, but I disabled the ABS on my last 2 cars as it increased the stopping distance more than I was prepared to accept.

The L322 is a quantum leap backwards, electronics are only sensible if they improve reliabilty and/or efficiency without increasing cost.

I'm afraid I do agree with this sentiment.

A friend has a new ford fiesta, I hadn't come across it before but the electrical load is so huge that the output for the alternator is increased when the temp is cold (to enable a better charge rate - I guess to stop discharging for short journeys.

The problem then manifests in low output voltage from the alternator due to a fault in the system that controls the output. The result is to advise to disconnect all the diagnostics to return the alternator back to a constant output. Too clever and all as a result of the vast drain on the system from all the electrics.

the allcomms is the easiest to try as a direct comparison mate as you know, if you need the faultmate we would need to talk to bbs to get the licence switched for a bit.
i am supposed to be going to southend, west byfleet, perivale and then portsmouth on tuesday depending on how long each takes so might miss out perivale so tuesday has good potential if that suits you mate?

Probably best to try it with my laptop so we know everything works.

if not tuesday i am around that way quite often, at least once a week normally

But electrics are something that can only ever go wrong, so technically will always prove unreliable and they will always increase costs :D

Sounds grand....Tuesday is good for me, I'll be at work from 7am until whenever (no set finishing time) so happy for whenever you can.

Will PM address and mob for your use...if you can't make it, no worries, we can re-arrange (Apart from the 11th or 18th Nov! we have baby classes!!)
