LS3 as in V8? How much cash does he have!
Yeah lol, he wants too see weather buying one already installed would be cheaper than doing the conversion him self. Obviously if he did it him self he'd need a defender with no engine, or buy a high mileage one for cheaper then just ditch the engine. U can buy the ls3's for £6,000 so it's not "too" bad. If I had the money I'd buy one straight from twisted.

Haha yeah the LS3 may be £6k but the electronics to run it are another £1k and you need to find a suitable gearbox which there arnt many that will retain 4wd. Quaife make one but thats another £10k on top. Not to mention uprating the rest of the drive train!

Probably looking at least £25k either way a **** sode cheaper than £70 - £100k for the pre built ones.

I found someone selling the engine for £5200 and the Ecu etc for £800, and you're right there's loads of other things that need to be done, yes and still a bit cheaper

Thats alright! Also something I would love to do in the future. Friend of mine did have an idea, buy a Vauxhall Maloo, usually a LS3 or similar engine and you can often pick em up for £10k or less. Gives you all engine, gearbox and ECU would just have to have someone modify it somehow to fit a TX box.

That's a good idea, but you could either get lucky with an engine that's been looked after or you could end up with a pile of scrap.
