Bigger is not neccessarily always better. Fitting bigger tyres raises the effective gear ratio, which is not always ideal. Also, there is a finite ammount of strain that the drivetrain can cope with berfore something breaks. On standard tyres, the tyres will usually lose traction before the halfshafts/diffs give up. Fitting bigger, more aggresive tyres can cause component failure long before the tyres run out of traction.
