Item 1. I think is what @Hicap phill was on about.
As you are missing bolts with your existing setup then I would guess you have the correct 1 to bolt up an R380 to.
If you are taking out the engine anyway give it a good clean and you may find some numbers on it for ref.

if you go the secondhand route make sure it’s from a defender and not a disco as I am certain there are differences there too.

i think the plan is to get the engine out clean it all obviously do what I needed to do at the start with the engine mounts. Whatever else needs Doing then probably will end up buying a new or second hand gearbox to fit which hopefully shouldn’t be too much money and that should solve it all

Hi @flat , was/is there an adaptor plate available for 300tdi to LT77? Can recall someone offering these some while back...possibly Steve Parker?
Yeah I vaguely remember it to, I can remember who though - I looked into it when I was doing my engine conversion but plumped for a 200tdi in the end for ease

If your engine mounts are in the original position for 2.5na,2.5TD and 200tdi engine then you need a short bellhousing r380 which isn’t that common.

would probably be easier to get an r380 gearbox, mount it up to your transfer box and fit the correct props then move the engine mounts to the correct position for a 300tdi.
