Ive recently bought my first defender and so far so good but... Ive tried taking off the tree sliders as they are all rusty and need a refurb. I have taken off the nut at bolt at the front and the slider comes loose but i cant seem to free the rear of it. Am i wrong in thinking there is no other bolts to remove at the back? I cant seem to find anywhere on the net that shows you how to fit/remove them.

Any help would be great as i now have a half hanging off tree slider lol

It shoiuld just slide out, if it doesnt check that there isnt a bolt either at the back of the outrigger tube or through the side of tube

probably just lots of mud holding them in tight ..its just a case of lots of elbow grease and wobbling the sliders up,down andleft n right..or try connecting yr winch to the end that is stuck and try that it may just free them

Course I once saw a pair that had a threaded bar welded to the end and it bolted thru the chassis rail. Mite be worth having a look.

Probly just stuck or rusted into the tube. You could tie a rope round em by the outrigger, then another round a tree, then slowly drive round the tree...but mind you don't bend your chassis doing it if it's a bit knackered!

ive checked to see if there are any bolts to the outrigger and there doesnt seem to be so i think ill go with the hammer idea and see if it comes loose.

thanks

be better using a thick rubber mallet..
whacking metal with a metal hammer is gunna hurt you and the sliders:D
