Hidden fuel pump switch is going to hinder them as it will die 100 yds down the road or 20yds with a V8 :D, then they got ta find it, an if ya got more an one they are stuffed.

You can do a very nice one with a hidden reed switch behind any plastic trim in the landy - activate it with a magnet. Great as there is no physical switch for a thief to find, and even if they knew they needed to swipe a magnet somewhere (f**k knows how they'd know that) they'd still not know where.

Possibly not great for Series and 'fenders as they tend to be all metal, but, for other classics it's a useful trick :)

rfid can be used too

Throughout the thread I noticed you're all missing a perfect security device.

Clifford and other high end alarms will phone you to tell you it's going off. A silent alarm would be best, with the phone call. Then you can have sweet justice when you sneak up and catch them :D

fitted a £65 tracker system on mine, uses GPRS and GPS.
at anytime I call the tracker and it replys with a google co-ordinates which I can then see live where the disco is and if its moving its a live feed.

Great for when the mrs takes the car and says she's going to A and I can see if shes at A or that ****s house lool.

I'm considering modifying the wiring loom so it looses live and earths../quote]

sounds like Lucas wiring to me ;)

15 years ago we had a Series3 safari, lovely car, and we fitted an extra switch that when operated earthed the LT side of the coil.

The switch appeared as an ordinary dash light switch,(toggle type), also added an reed type magnet activated one.

Seemed to work well the only time it was broken into, they stole my tool box, but not the vehicle, so I was miffed but not gutted.

Why not put in a remote battery lock out switch, like in heavy equipment. In a hidden spot?
