600hp depending what performance parts. This replica is set to make a world record later this year but with the look of the original car in the 1920's but powered by the latest Cummins 6B.

I like that a lot. I often think of buying a coach, stripping the body off, cutting the chassis overhangs off and rebodying it as an oversized 30's roadster, styling based on something like 'Babs' or the Napier Railton.

dana 70 and 80 are too big and heavy!! wont have much room for the sump
dana 70 internals will fit in dana 60 case.
I wouldnt go thicker than 4mm for a entire chassis which is about the same thickness as a 7.5tonner chassis

only too big and heavy if you don't have the right engine ;)

4mm may be ok but this chassis is designed to take a much bigger engine next year hence 6mm

Plus the 80's and 70 were dirt cheap to me and brand new, in fact one of the 80's was free with the 70 oh and theres plenty of room for the sump on a 454 unless you're meaning on the 6BT

Any running gear from a 3/4 ton Yank pickup or that bradford 44 will handle anything a v8 can give it , Fook them axles will handle 1000hp easy

Blowby High 1000 + HP Diesel 10 second 1/4 mile Drag Race - YouTube in 4x4. a 454 has nothing on these boys

They only have LSD from factory if they have the additional lubrication tag on the bottom of the casing.

Mine don't and they're ex military 80 dually axles so I'd be doubtful if a 60 did

Not picking on you doc. But them axles are over kill. That 454 will never even challenge them axles

As above though the 454 is not the final engine this truck is getting, plus for the price there was no reason no to.

The 454 may not challenge them but it wont care about the extra weight that much either, this build is still going to weigh in at less than a chevy suburban or something else these engines are installed as theres no fancy interior or bodywork

Is there anywhere in the UK sells quality aftermarket parts for Cummins. The US seems to be overloaded with them but over here is a different story.

The torque generated while at 500bhp will destroy a lr chassis and complete drivetrain including the xf 5 42 that comes with this engine on daf 45 version
So now you need to source a heavy auto box from state side and 14 bolt gm axles etc etc
Forget the lt 230 transfer box which is one of the best but not at 1000lb torque
The list goes on

Or from a 1 ton Ford. Believe ford works better with a 6 pot than chevy;)

Because there are millions of them on the road, and parts are very cheap. Plus the need for speed. Look at my link back a couple posts. 10 sec 1/4 mile in a 4 ton steel box;)

Any DAF dealer can get you what you need, their little trucks have used the 4 and 6 pot cummins engines for ever, like all parts departments you will need the part number otherwise you will run into a brick wall!
Been common rail for well over a decade now and the 6 pot has recently gone from 5.9 to 6.7 litre capacity.

Thanks mate. I will probably eventually take you up on that.
Engine will be a 12v keeping electronics/electrics to a bare minimum. Holset 35 or 40 turbo. Larger injectors. P7100 pump. Looking for around 500BHP. Which im led to believe is actually quite conservative for these motors once you start playing with them.. :)

What are your plans for the drive train? 500bhp will make mincemeat of the standard stuff.
