Naaaah Datatek. North Sea en-route to Caledonian Canal, not quite the Caribbean though is it. Until the wheelhouse is built the rain ingress continues, but I'm totally unconcerned about it until then. The occasional pumping out is fine.

Yup! It does a great job of holding it in Alan. After transporting countless tons of black oil for her working life - and petroleum spirit too in smaller tanks - rust below deck isn't an issue.Luckily it leaks in and holds water as opposed to sinking.

Im converting her for Charities with wheelchair clients to use for short breaks aboard with their carers or family members Alan. Three of the old oil tanks, each approximately 17'6" x 14'00" will be converted into a cabin with disabled bathroom. A large kitchen diner and additional accommodation will be available too. Stairlifts fore & aft, plus a hoist with a SWL of 400kg will ensure ease of access below decks. The deck each side of the coamings (refer to "RAVE") are a metre wide, thus facilitating "perambulation" around the deck for both self-propelled or pushed wheelchairs. That's my vision for her.

That is one hell of a project you have there. How will you get rid of the smell of oil from the old tanks?

When the oil film is removed and cleaned, a coat of red oxide paint is applied. A membrane is applied, 100mm Rockwool, then framed before plasterboading.

I had agreed to buy a working Barge called Panary with a 22' beam, whose design was better suited to accommodate a garage. She moved 250 ton loads between the Manchester Ship Canal and Liverpool's Huskisson Dock. Her owners had accepted my offer, but a couple of days before I was to transfer funds, they sold her to a previous skipper. Crap happens! Jondor's aft deck could park a Range Rover easily, but will instead be a "sun deck" accommodating multiple wheelchairs instead!
I think I went out with her. Colette?

Skipper Colette? Fraid not. I know HIM from a forum as "Orlando". Sad thing is, Panary was very recently still in a Liverpool dock looking decidedly rough compared to three years ago...
