Took delivery of a Foxwell NT530 today, after registration, plugged it into my Freelander 1 & had a quick play & it found historical codes with front abs sensors which I cleared. I'll plug it into the Disco later in the week & see what it finds:confused:

Having a Foxwell pro 520 I'll be very interested in the differences between it and yours.:):):)
Hi, not sure how we go about that but I'm open to suggestions, no sniggering at the back.
I know we both asked the guru "why not a 530 " but I went ahead anyway as it was in a sale at £122. It seems alright with plenty of menus/options inc. fob coding so time will tell.

Didn't know you'd asked him too! Musta missed it!
You paid a lot less than i did. All i know is it has helped fix my Landy and wifey's Citroen so saved a ton of money already!
Good luck with it!
As for the differences I could just google it and look at what menus etc it has on it. But as it covers the whole of the Landy range that could take a while!

Maybe foxwell fixed the ''bugs'' on 530 since we spoke or they just used the older softs on it, important is that it's working well.
I hope so:). It's worked for the 20 odd minuets earlier. I did clear the ABS fault codes on the Freelander earlier & took it for a spin so when I reconnect it tomorrow I'll see if they've gone for good.
Took the F/L out for a 6 mile spin & re-checked it for fault codes & I'm pleased none re-appeared.
Plugged it into the Discovery, had a quick look at eng. related fault codes & it had bucket loads :D, all 5 injectors, EGR etc(I presume the injector related faults are from a failed fuel pressure reg. the previous owner had replaced not long before I got it). As it appears to run ok shunting it about on my drive whilst I'm working my way through it. (only driven it the 3 miles home when I picked it up in May) Should I clear all the faults, or leave them & take a closer look, if anyone could let me know what they think? I'll try & run through all the menus later & see what else lurks:eek:. Much appreciated.

I've got a good collection of diagnostic equipment, including a Gap Diagnostics IID BT, A Delphi clone, a couple of ELMs plus Torque and the Icarsoft I930, which although cheap and limited, actually works ok as a basic code reader/eraser. I also have one for the Fiat's in the household, but can't remember the name off hand.

Thing about the Foxwell, apart from being a shedload cheaper than all the others, is that it does the whole range of RR products and OBD2 and you can buy and download the software for other manaufacturer's ranges cheaply too.
Compared to a Nanocom or a Hawkeye that lets you work on just one particular vehicle, unless you pay through the noew for an unlock code.
And it seems to do all I want it to....
...... and no, i'm not on commission!!!!!!!!!!!!;);););););)

in a nutshell: icarsoft is full of sh*t compared to foxwell

+11111 to ^ re Foxwell!

You can get a basic code reader for £15 from eBay, but the icarsoft and Foxwell are about the same price. Obviously £15 isn't going to buy much, but what does the Foxwell do that the icarsoft doesn't?
I'm genuinely looking for amswers here, I'm probably going to buy one!

Now that was a fast reply - minus one minute!

I had the iCarsoft CR Plus 4 years ago that can be used on a multitude of car brands. Worked great on my wife’s BMW X5 and mother-in-law’s Audi and Cadillac but I needed it to do more than just resetting the ABS for 3 amigos on my Disco 2.
I sold the CR Plus and got the older Foxwell NT510 for my Land Rover, Wife’s BMW and now for our Toyota. The Foxwell works great!

I will say that on the Foxwell website it mentions that it can recode fobs for the Disco 2. I could never get it to work on my NT510 so I had to use my Nanocom.

Been an interesting thread so far. I've been on the lookout for a nanocom at a price i can afford for a while, but have looked at others, with Hawkeye second choice, but never really hearing enough about the Foxwell to be confident enough to buy one.
I currently have three amigos that I'll want to sort (i have a 2001 D2 Td5 by the way), but would be good to have something that will deal with most things that nanocom and hawkeye could deal with. At the moment, I'm seriously thinking about getting the Foxwell NT530. My issue has always been if it will work with my D2, but by the sounds of it, I don't need to worry too much.

According to others on here, the Nanocom has a nasty habit of getting mixed up when it comes to which wheel sensor on an axle is the one causing a 3 amigos problem.
This is a fault the Foxwell doesn't have. My Foxwell worked fine when sorting out the 3 amigos problem.

Yeah, I think I'll go Foxwell. Cheaper than even a second hand Nanocom, no brainer if it's also more reliable.
