Landing gear made here so fine. Replacement apparently genuine Lockheed brake pads from Indian airforce stores were made from and a kid you not. Compressed cow dung. Two killed on landing when brakes failed.

I find Exedy Clutch kits to be good, the customer service is shocking however but the components are always good.

not sure if they do a kit for the P38 though

Beast is back. Oddly after standing a week or so there was enough friction for it to inch forward a foot or so.

Re-bled the clutch on the off chance. No change. What I notice though is that I can push the release lever towards the slave cylinder by maybe 1/4"? It springs straight back but I can move it after the clutch pedal is all the way up. Can someone check if theirs does the same?

I will check now but not sure mine is 100%. What am I checking, if the thing underneath the gearbox slides more About??

My clutch pedal is always up though?

I went under my truck to check for Grrr.
This is the slave right?

Engine not running, clutch pedal is stiff/pressurised as usual.

I can squeeze about 1/4” as you mentioned in ‘play’. But it’s not play as such, it has resistance. May be hard to see if you can’t flick between pics ...

It pushes straight back feels hydraulic. 1/4” travel no probs. Checked pedal - no movement or play as usual-still stiff.

So to be sure I got back under and squeezed it like this (do NOT do this)

Right in, made a squelch :eek: now my clutch pedal is flopping on floor 95%. The 5% travel from floor is all I have from engaged to bite!

Took it for spin and it shifts like clutch is buried in hard but hardly any pedal to use :(:(:(:(:( Wonder if this is how you get them to burn out every other year

S*it F*** Ba***rd c*** of a thing

Why don’t I just leave alone ..

So okay I did it, but now I need your help :(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Crap. What happened? Lever moves but pedal doesn't?

OK. Read your post. Same as mine. Except my pedal still works. Guessing you have pushed the seals too far.

Hold on. I might have a spare in the shed. Pretty sure I have a spare master. Got to put the kid to bed first but will dig around after. Spring inside had snapped but still works.

Will look up bleed as may work. Hope no kit needed

May have pushed seals through, maybe they’ll go back to where they were if I strip it.?

Why oh why do I do these things :D

Loosen, down, tighten, up ... Repeat.

Checked the shed. Got spare master but not slave.

Might get lucky with a bleed. Or seal kit?
motor factors had lil one £2.99 for 250ml.

On your own this is a potch checking underneath climbing up and down. I made a little setup with an old bottle, spare windscreen washer tubing and a zip tie. The bleed valve is 11mm but I didn’t have that size, 12mm spanner won’t work but 12 6point socket will gently.
Syringed out bout 120ml from brake reservoir into the bottle then climbed under, cracked nut, attached tube/bottle

Poured whole 250ml into res, doesn’t go up much. turned ignition on pumped brake for accumulator to charge up, pumped clutch 5times - bit of feel. Undid valve slightly and pedal went limp so turned back pumped 25times to be sure then tightened right up. Had about 180mils in bottle which looked clean.

So you know your 1/4” play is normal, I’ve got fresh fluid, working p38 and know how to bleed clutch @£2.99 so we’re both okay....I think....made it through today atleast :)

After the squeeze it didn’t feel the same, not ‘springy’ if that makes sense. Made a quiet knock on release until bled, even bit harder to push in now it’s done but there is still that 1/4” (or near enough) movement that doesn’t effect pedal. Don’t force it like an idiot would :)
I have drove my vehicle on&off 5yrs, pretty hard on times, same clutch/slave/master. Don’t know what one is in there for sure

Wonder what @tomcat59alan or @brianp38dse have? Sure you're right though. Just got to find a spare weekend to pull it apart. I'm booked up till the end of May though unless I get lcky.
Do you mean free travel or bleed kit? Bleed kit I use is a length of suitable pipe, a milk bottle and the missus. How hard is it to remember to shout down when the pedal reaches the floor and up when the pedal is at the top of its travel? one good way to start an argument.:D I will check free trial later and report back :)
