Can you not switch them over form your mates to be sure that’s what it is?

I cannot recall if mine were soldered in or not. I thought they were but I only looked in there once and might be mixing it up with another car.

I can tell you that the chips were soldered in on the ECU I sold.
What is more, I have seen chips piggy backed onto the existing chip and also soldered in place.

I might have a look in the future, too much other stuff going on at the moment. I think I read somewhere also that endtuning will fit chips if you go to them for not a lot and they are not a million miles away from me. Solder- they can do it, push fit- I'll do it.
Long term I think I'll source a 24 box first, then chip and see what happens or I won't do anything and just keep thinking

They'll solder a socket in and then the new chip will clip in. Might even give you a copy of your old one so you can switch back to stock easily.
