These are great heaters ,especially on series and 90/110s there's nothing worse than shivering in winter in a fridge of a cab
I just wish it would get cold enough to use one. Mine has only been run once this winter and only for ten minutes to melt a light frost.
 
I have noticed now they are doing self contained heaters all you have to connect is the exhaust ,considering how expensive they used to be the Chinese ones are fantastic
 
Thread revival. I’ve been fitting my heater earlier. All has gone ok but it’s mounted in my 90 rear box (made from wood) - how hot does the plate get? I sealed it all with high temp sealant and have routed exhaust and intake under rear wheel...

I put a bit of ally under mine.(mine sits ontop of a Lino floor) The exhaust gets hot.
To warm your motor up quicker the 2 ends of the heater need to be piped to the cab.
That way it recirculates the warm air it’s already heated.
 
Saying that Phil, it’s already on its own metal plate. Did you mean an additional one?! Yes pump came with a rubber mount
 
I wouldn’t put it on an ally plate as this is the easiest way of transferring the heat. Better with heat proof board.
You are supposed to mount them on a lift bracket if on dodgy surfaces and fit a marine exhaust that is double walled.

strangely I primed mine this morning after refitting the fuse for the coming winter. Fired up no problem but it’s a bit cooler than I remember from last year. I’ll give it a good blast sometime this week and burn out the crap. Just hope it gets cold enough to use it this time.
I have been pricing one up for my camper build and they have reduced in price again. I want a 2kw this time as the 5 is just mental. I don’t want the digital readout either or remote control as they just use battery power up when not in use (hence the fuse out in summer). My camper will be off grid so no unnecessary losses thank you.
 
And like magic, I just acquired some fire board! Didn’t get a chance to do it today. Been dragging a poorly disco about with it!
 
Very annoyingly mines just given up. Worked fine for all last winter, fine for a week or so this year. Then had a fuel pump fault, changed the pump, still has a fault. Dont think the pumps getting 12v.

Just override the pump ;)
(But need to make sure the brains is telling the heater to run)

Usually an easy fix. They are a simple machine. I spent weeks with a dodgy one years ago and all it turned out to be was air being sucked in the fuel pipe.
To be fair, I think the pump is the weak link in these cheapos. Although mine is working the pump ain’t making the same noise it did last winter. More of a clunk than a tick. Then again they are only a tenner to replace.
 
After reading in here and having a nagging safety feeling that I try not to ignore I ordered some webasto lagging, a better exhaust (one that came was so crap) and have got some fire board from a trailer so going to do a nice job of if and rid the nag.
@Bobsticle was it only flattening your battery when you left it plugged in without running the car for a day or so? I don’t do many miles since covid and some days I don’t even start it.
I don’t really need a dual charge system - I only have one work light and that just gets flicked on whilst I’m packing stuff into truck at night
