i have not yet collected it yet but im just wondering why its a 2a when it has a M plate 1973/4, land rover stoped production before this. or is it that it has just had the wings and front panel changed? any how could t just be the reg plate with it beeing ex milatary

i am gona collect it on thurs starting to get a bit scared as i have not yet seen it, but ware should i be looking for the reg plate, if my intuition serves me correctley it should be on the seat box.

The data plate should either be on the seat box or bulkhead just right of the steering column, yours may have been registered on the year of release & not on its age, if it is S2 then you can get age related plates & free tax.

I will have a look and post the results.

Is there any specific lightweight related things that i should look for when i give it the onceover.

afaik the lightweight was only in production for the MOD from 1968-1983. and only in 2a and 3 series.

officially no civilians one were made/sold. although some peeps say there were a few sold to civies.

Yes, The bulkhead & vent panel, these are very expensive to replace on a lightweight, other than that it's just your normal LR things like chassis, outriggers etc, check drive in 2 & 4 wd & hi & low.

Are they same size wheels (Front / Rear NS) in the photo ?
I would check that before you start driving around in 4 wheel drive, you may bust somthing.

if thats one from e bay i think the seller said he had the correct size wheels for it and had just taken them orf to move something else. they should bee 600's all round

The data plate will tell you if it's a so called 2a or series 3, I say so called as that is what it is refered to as by the majority, the data plate will have Rover 1 or series 3 written across the top, it will have the military reg number on it which is 2 numbers 2 letters 2 numbers, from this I can give you the date.

Just got her in the garage, she has her good points and bad. it has twin strombergs that in did not know about, 5 brand new 750/16 mud terains but the best thing is the sound of the V8.

first of all tomorow night i will fix the petorl leak (1 of the bad points) so that i can hear her roar in her full glory. and i will give her a good going over to see what needs doing.

Just on with the petrol leak and i have disscovered that there is three pipes on eash fuel filter:

one is fuel feed
the second links the two and the third there is a pipe on each leading to noware one has a stick in it and the other there is nothing. are these pipes for anything or can i solve the fault by linking these together

there is a pipe on each filter comming from the tank, there is another pipe whick links the two filters together, and there is also one pipe comming from each filter which dont lead to any thing. i carnt think of any reason for three pipes on each filter so im stuck.

I will try to get a picky on soon

the two clear pipes closest to the carbs are the mystery pipes in question, the two in front of them come from the tank and the black one in the middle links the to filters.

i hope this makes things clearer.
