I know a lot of people have had the same problem but I've tried every solution and nothing has worked. I got a new battery fitted. Since the new battery, the rear window won't stay up. It beeps then comes down. If I lock the vehicle, I can get he window to stay up by turning the key in the back door lock. But as soon I unlock the car, the window comes down.

I have tried every calibrating method that I've read on the Internet but nothing has worked. I
r. Disconnecting the battery, waiting, reconnecting. Turning ignition in on position and trying the window. But it hasn't worked any of the 40 times I've tried.

I have also tried quickly locking/unlocking 6 times and switching ignition on & off a quickly for 6 times.

Can someone tell me of something I've not tried that'll work pleeeeease?

oh, I have a 2005 Freelancer, 3dr, HB. TD4 A.

Possibly the micro-switch for the hard/soft top. Had this trouble after disconnecting my battery last year. Bloody window would not stay up. Tried re-calibrating but to no avail.Wedged a piece of card between hard top and micro switch and hey presto it worked.Even though I never touched the hard top. Switch is located on the right side of the vehicle, about half way up the pillar and is pushed down when the hard top is on, and also gets pushed down when the soft top is erected so the window can be closed.
Worth a try and takes seconds. Worked for me...............

this would be because if you wind the window up and you stop before it gets to the top it goes back down again obvious really if you think about it .

Okay, where's the microswitch? And does it now fully function correctly i.e. does it drop slightly when you open the rear door then rise again once you shut it etc? And your rear wiper? Oh yes, I've lost function of the rear wiper too.

Thank you for your help.

#1 let window go down
#2 turn key to pos II
#3 Start the car
#4 put revs up to ~1500
#5 push window up switch and hold it for approx 5 sec.

It should calibrate and work as it should

Just a thought, does anyone know which fuse the alarm is? I looked lastnight, but couldn't see a symbol that resembled an alarm type icon.

Whenever I've tried the re-calibrating procedure, the rear window has been down, because the car needs to be unlocked to disarm the alarm. And when the car is unlocked, the window comes down.

The guidance stipulates that the alarm must be disarmed before disconnecting the battery. But then the window comes down.

So, I can get the window up using the key in the door, only when the car is locked. Maybe if I lock it, get the window up, then remove the fuse from the alarm and try to re-calibrating procedure, it may have a different result? I'm thinking that, because maybe when the battery is reconnected, the sensor will recognise that the window is up, and be able to sense the level etc etc.

Re-read Realbeales post no 3.

He tells you where the sensor is and what to do.

Thanks Epicuser,
Will the window still drop/raise when the door is opened etc? And wiper function come back? I did ask but I've not had a reply. I would rather it just work than have to shove a piece of card there, bloody Freelander.
This site is going to come in quite handy me thinks!

Just had a reply from an auto-electrician, he said try disconnecting the motor module... What do you think? And where is that located please?
Thanks

I don't think anyone can tell whether it will all work once the switch issue is resolved before you've tried it, you'll have to try it to see! Lol

When you unlock the car is it then that the window comes down.
As holding the unlock button on the fob in normal operation for 5 seconds make the window drop. Could it be the button on the fob sticking.

Trust me, it's a dodgy micro-switch on mine. I've put down to constantly switching from hard to soft-top last year.Maybe just a coincidence it came to light immediately after I changed the battery. I still have to leave the piece of card to constantly hold it all the way down or the window drops thinking the hard top is off.

Has the micro switch in the door handle stopped working?
Broken wires somewhere in the rear door?

Hi
Try checking the battery terminals are nice and tight

Is the rear wiper in the park position - on the rubber strip and off the glass

Switch works fine. Battery connections checked and tightened. Wiper on rubber in park position. Check check check. It will just not recalibrate. Maybe something blew when the new battery was reconnected, regulator?
I also have an oil leak, I noticed last night. I think I hate this car.
