Ps I keep saying it won't recalibrate because it gives me the four warning beeps when i try to use the rear window.
I also noticed it beeps when I take roof off (only tried for first time last night) is that normal?

It's not recallibrating for a reason. Micro switches are the usual culprits or broken wires.

I can't comment with regards any 3 door peculiarities, as I have a 5 door.

Sounds like it thinks the hard top is not in place.

Thanks Epicuser, think I'll have to remove the door card and have a look eh?

Someone's took it off before because there's a screw missing!

when your rear window goes down does it disappear in to the door .if not then i had the same problem turned out the wireing in the door had come adrift stopping the window going all the way down hence stopping the recalibrating procedure just a thought

Thanks Tincan. No it doesn't all disappear into the door, should it? I can't remember if it is actually supposed to disappear all the way into the door come to think of it.

I've just had the door card off, nothing obviously untoward, there was a batch of wires not pinned into the door so I pinned them back in.
Tried to recalibrate again, still no success :(

Also see if the tailgate glass is centered ok ...if its too far left or right it may be jamming on the side when it goes down.

Wire sounds cheaper than a regulator! Wouldn't that have been a problem before the new battery though?

Its a Doozy!!

Wonder if anyone has shunted your spare wheel and dented the tailgate door in a bit ..its happened before.

As Tincan and Epicuser say... the glass not dropping fully into the door is your starter for one.

When I had the door card off yesterday, the bottom of window pane was resting on all the appropriate little bracket things and ledges so that must be as far as it's meant to go. I've never realised if it's even full disappeared into the door. It's the 3dr version.

Here are two pics I took last night.. anything look odd?

looks to me like the wires to the wiper motor are stopping the glass - the wires should be flat to the door hence the long deflector clip fittings - the glass travels down in front of them...see if that bit of loom will pin back ;)

Watch what your doing though don't trap yer fingers!

Raise the glass safely out of the way before you attempt this.

Ahhh Brack, thanks for that. They're currently acting as a 'ledge' and seemed pretty secure when I had a fiddle last night so I thought they were meant to be there. How stupid of me. I am merely a girl. Maybe it's never actually worked properly then, but due to it being calibrated when it was 'right', it worked fine, and I never noticed that it never went all the way down. Fingers crossed I will pin them back and the recalibration will work. Please please please.

I've owned a Land Rover for 3 weeks and I'm quickly becoming a mechanic and auto-electrician. Is this the way of life from now on?

Have a think about how you will do this...we dont want you to get hurt - the glass might drop quickly if you attempt to move the wires with the glass resting on them.

Yes ....one life live it....electrically mechanically etc :) :)

Thanks for your help Brack, and your concern. I will find a way. If you don't hear from me again, assume I am fingerless :p

Well I fixed it, and didn't lose any fingers. You were totally right . It recalibrated itself pretty much straight away. Thank you all so much for your help :)
