Data you have been away from this country for too long. I know in France the peasants would revolt.

If you walked into your average council office armed with a cheque book looking for justice, the numpty behind the counter would look at you as if you were from outer space or France!!

Not so, I know it's a while back but I have twice had them back down and cancell the ticket, they didn't want the hassle.
Now when in the Uk, I follow French practice and park on the pavement:D:D:D

I got a ticket a few weeks back for parking half a meter inside a 30min parking zone. The dividing line between this and the all day parking was invisable. Anyway, I paid up on the councils website but I am sure I had to enter my registration for validation. If yours doesn't match thier records then I doubt they would even bother to trace you.

By the way I don't buy the "Done the crime - pay the fine" approach. If we all did this we would need second mortgages.

Go along the road, find a bit of pavement that's 2inch high, take a photo of it, then send them a letter telling them you tripped and fell hard, then send them a bill for £500, then pay there £25, seem fair to me...... The wife got £750 for tripping on a pavement last year, but she did some damage though... but i happy to report, no enough so she couldn't get me beer from the fridge, and to show im a great husband, i bought her an Iron for Xmas, and before you gripe about it, it is top of the range not a rubbish one, but it surprises me she has the time to put a sharp crease in my underpants what with the 2 jobs she has

Technically it maybe wrong. But you were guilty hold your hand out an get it slapped. According to an ancient law all fixed penalty tickets are illegal anyway. But the govenment don't see it that way. Unfortunatly.:D:D:D

you mean the magna carta?

you mean the magna carta?

No a bill of rights act passed in i think 1649 still on the statute book and still law. "All demands for monies or foreiture of goods without conviction shall be illegal and void" or something like that. So demanding the payment before a case is proven in a court of law and being found guilty of an offence, makes it void so not enforcable in law. But then again it's still legal to shoot a Welshman within Chester city walls after dark. It has been tried i believe (the fine thing, not shooting a Welshman) the government just said it's a law that is not upheld anymore. But you can bet your bottom dollar if they were looking for something to get you on, they would go back to biblical times to find something to get you with if they could.

When I got a bull**** ticket for no reason at all, despite proof they would
Not quash it, I worked out £25 into 14 days and
Sent 14 checks of £1.78 and a cheque of 8 pence each dated a day after the other. I did
Supply the paperclip to hold them though!

Well they paid it in on the last day I sent. My statement read
Something like this:

14:08: payment to wycombe district council
14:09: payment to wycombe district council
14:10: payment to wycombe district council
14:11: payment to wycombe district council....... Etc etc

Shame there isn't an old law where as you can pay them in fish or potatoes or dog **** or something like that

I believe one farmer paid something with a cheque written on the side of a cow once. Sounds stupid but i believe a cheque can be written on anything. Must have been a bugger cashing it.
