Sorry, I have been watching this thread, and as I now need a tongue transplant due to biting.

I remember when I was young and got my first grinder.

Are you serious? That cutting around an open engine, while you are trying to make the inlet manifold!
As you prob. did not glaze bust the bores while it was apart, an easy way round it, put 1 teaspoon of fine valve grinding paste in the first fill of fuel, saves loads of time. I presume you will not be using a fuel filter as they can be restrictive.

(At least all the damage I did was to the glass of a mini while I replaced the floors.)

The grinder is a lot further away from the block than it looks so its fine

It will have a small inline filter on it too and an inlet manifold needs making as we don't have one......the original got scrapped a while back

this was first thing i noticed too am afraid..

doc cover lump up..please..i can tell you them sparks..read nasty grindy bits go a feck much further than you think..much further..much much further..

its no bother to cover engine..only needs one tiny bit to get in..

PAINT THE FECKIN ENGINE..LOOKS CRAP..COULD LOOK FECKIN EXCELLENT!

just my opion though..lol

Engines in the back of the car now, miles away from any sparks!

Grinder was about 2m away with wind blowing out towards garden and grinder aimed that way too so should be fine!

And I will be painting the engine black to match the series before it goes in

grinder throw metal 30 feet, and it bounces of of things

not to mention the sand like, and dust like stuff it throws in the air from the disc deteriorating that settles on everything. i imagine that is quite abrasive in an engine.

basic shop hygiene imo

:lol: yep but I am not going to **** on his parade :scratching_chin:

sorry to repeat my self, but when I was young.

Drivel still is, and I hope we can break the cycle and get someone younger to li8sten and understand......

If only I tied the old bloke to my ear and listened to him.........
As irritating as he was, if only I had listened!

Well worst case is I whip the heads back off and clean the bores out before we fire it up. Doesn't take long to do these heads up as its only 60ft/lbs

how would it get into the bore? It is the rest on the engine when it goes through the oil system

Oil system is sealed up, theres no access routes it can take, valley is sealed up so the only open areas on the engine are the inlet ports

sweet, will do that before I put the inlet back on in that case

Also just found out the LT95 transfer case may fit the muncie box better than the LT230 will. Going to dismantle my LT95 next week and measure up the shaft as I can get a simple cut adaptor made up for half the price of the LT230 one in that case! Means it'll sit flush with the muncie box and I'll have a vacuum diff lock which wouldn't be a bad thing.

Not sure you can re-use headgaskets unless they are copper ones mate.

I spent sooooooo lng cleaning and keeping it clean, even when its in the garage between stages its bagged up in a mega poly bag to keep the dust out.

Be carefull mate, some tape on those ports at least
