Rover V8 is coming out of the vehicle this week, gonna whip it out and dump it on a pallet

I may install the 429 myself and duck tape the ports closed and throw a tarp over it under the bonnet as I'm really not liking it living in the back of the disco......its just a bit awkward as I cant use the disco for anything now  also means I can get it all sorted a little faster :D

Removed input and output gear, drove down to liverpool and gave them to the gear cutter, gear is going to cost a little less than I though it would and be ready in early january fully hardened 16thou deep IIRC out of a nice high grade steel, machined perfectly etc and it means my transfer box will butt up to the gearbox nice and flat!

makes life a lot easier, gives me an extra 4" of prop to play with so tomorrow I'm going into town to get some steel to make up the adaptor plate for box to box as well as ripping out the old engine if we don't have a sleet monsoon and lightning again like today!

weather was mental here yesterday but I was tucked away in garage with mate doing the work for me so all good :D

Both engines are partially wrapped up in cling film, pallets lined up, got a massive bit of plywood so I can move the hoist around on the gravel, once the caddy engine is airborne I'll wrap the rest of it but its kinda hard with it sat in the back of the disco on a mix of bricks and tyres!

They're going to live outside on pallets wrapped in clingfilm and tarps for a bit unfortunately but as soon as the series has had is suspension raised a bit to give me more axle clearance and I've extended the bump stops it'll go straight in :) most probably at the start of the new year or even before if I get a dry ish day to chop off the old dumb irons and put on the military ones
