Hi I have jsut picked up an 96 reg 300 tdi disco and the back boot door will only half shut. It rattles when I drive because it is not properly secure on the latch. I have tried holding the door latch and closing it many times but it will not completely close. Anyone got any ideas of what I need to do to fix this?

door usually have some adjustment on the striker plate, which is the bit on the body that the catch catches. try slacken the screws and movint it a bit till it stops rattlin

This might sound a bit stupid, but if it isnt completely engaging the latch, try closing it with one of the other doors open. Mine sometimes wont close properly because of the air pressure in the sealed cab. If I have a door open or a window down the pressured air has somewhere to go and the back door closes easily.

could be the outside handle mechinisum partialy seized, try popping the oval landrover badge out the outside handle and giving it a good spray with wd40, work the handle a few times whilst door is open, it used to happen alot with my old 300tdi, worth a try,

It could be the catch mechanism needs tightening as mine does this when the retaining screws have worked loose, even with loctite on them.
