Then We drained the blackest thickest oil that ive ever seen and replaced the oil pressure switch, the old one had leaked everywhere and I mean everywhere, cause it had been cross threaded by one of the previous owners

Cleaned the oil filter housing and tapped the oil switch thread with my brand new tap and die set, money I could have done without spending:mad::mad:

Hopefully tomorrow more cleaning and painting if the rain buggers off

Bought a timing belt kit to be fitted at the weekend, hopefully my uncle will show me how to fit it as engines is not my strong point

If we don't end up working on my daughters cars that is

Good shout, I've never used paddocks before as brookwells is just round the corner, but paddocks seem a lot cheaper

Cheers :)

Enjoying reading this!! did it take you long to learn how to gas weld?

It was part of my apprenticeship and you get better over time, but similar to mig welding if you set it up properly it is easier, it still takes me ages to get the mig right

If you had all the equipment to practice with you can learn in no time :)

Im really enjoying this thread!

What did you use to clean up the radius arms, thinking about having a go myself.

I used a knotted wire brush on my grinder and a couple of wire brushes that fit in my drill

Make sure you put goggles on and wear gloves the knotted brushes shoot wires at your face

The weather was good today, so we set about putting the axle back on

Shiny new galv turrets

Shame my new springs are a different yellow than the paint I used on the other bits, but hopefully they will spend most of the time covered in mud

Put the front wheels back on as a temporary measure, just to get them out the way as I'm running out of backyard

Finally can any one tell me if I've fitted the yellow bar the wrong way round, I suspect i have

Next weekend We will hopefully get the timing belt an the hubs sorted

Yes it should be the other way round to sort of follow the line of the axle if that makes sense

Yes it should be the other way round to sort of follow the line of the axle if that makes sense

Cheers That's what I thought but the off set bit doesn't sit central with the bit of the axle that sticks out like I assumed it would so i swapped it round, I will take your word for it :):):)

Thanks

My uncle and i Took all day today to clean paint and repair the front hubs

Not HD's unless there's a big winch going at the front, just standard height bearmachs or OE

Out of my price range I'm afraid, I've had to settle for HD brit part specials

At some stage there should be a winch going on, hopefully ;)

Britpart springs are actually meant to be alright, the only thing  only thing about HD's is they usually raise the ride height and are harsh if you don't have extra weight on
