If it beaches itself it rises a little extra to give yourself a chance to get free. Didn't work for me: it span some more and I ended a bit deeper in the mudhole I was in!
Get some ramps or if you do use the extended profile make sure you use axle stands.Maybe you should go easy on the loud pedal I've not had great experiences off roading the P38, compared to my classics, mainly due to the coils and also having nexen rodian tyres fitted which do the job on the road but aren't designed for the soft stuff
From what I've read it's not ideal for driving, the extended profile, as the bags/shocks are at there limit but would be nice to set it for changing auto fluid/filters which is my next job!

Yeah I couldn't figure out what was going on when I got stuck in my P38, not use to electronic traction control always had diff locks before. It was strange as one of the back wheels was locked up and the other was spinning. I must admit not done much serious off roading in it due to the coils but looking forward to some now!
I had driving it down a local boat road the day after I bought it in January last year which I used to take my classic down most days coming back from work.
The lane is on a slight decline and when I turned around I couldn't get back out, ground was very sodden, kept trying to get out but got some very bad smells from the transmission!
Ended up having to back all the way up and just gain as much speed as possible to get up the slight hill whilst being thrown of the headlining!
Ah right, no dash message but it was making an awful ticking noise from the front wheel on the same said as the locked rear wheel. Sounded like when you get a small branch stuck around your axle when it was spinning up

Anything like wet grass on a slope can be a real pain. As Wammers says, the ABS cuts in in reverse, applying the brake on and off in quick succession on the spinning wheel to try to push power to the non-slipping wheel. The TC light on the dash should flash on with a clicking noise. maybe that was the "ticking" you heard?
Not the ABS that kicks in. ABS and TC are different things.
Yes but it is a bit like ABS in reverse, if you follow me? As in ABS releases the wheel when it stops turning but TC stops the wheel when it is turning too fast.
I follow you Grrrrrrr and that is exactly the way I think of ABS/TC. Its the same just different
