Would they not just be the bearings from the parts manual for that engine? Or are those ones special?

First 1s show crank has been reground as 20thou and thrusts "std"
I dont really understand what the real issue is:confused:.

Can we see a pic of the Mains or big end bearing inner face, how worn are they?:).

J

As above bearings are 20 thou undersize and thrust washer is std
But normally you would measure crankshaft endfloat and choose correct sized one for the prescribed clearance

prob get bits from here

+1 with Steve's suggestion.
Give Turner's a call. You'll no doubt be answered by Frida Turner who is extraordinarily helpful and very knowledgeable. They'll be able to give you all the free advice you need and they only sell top quality parts. If your crank needs work, they're the ones.

A couple of photos of crank , there's some very slight groves can be felt if finger nail is rubbed across bearing surface .

Got any pics of inside the bearing shells?
Did the engine have any oil pressure issue or noises?

More important is the diameter , really needs measuring with a micrometer at a few places on the shaft if there is minimum wear then a few grooves may be acceptable as long as nothing proud , I polished mine with some 800-1200 grit and wd40

Agreed, But if the inside of the shells are still "gray" then things could be looking good as a quick first look:).

I will get some more photos tomorrow, not really had it running I bought it as seen not driven it I the seller seemed genuine and was rebuilding another landy to a very high standard so I bought it .
To be fair to him he did not describe it as running and just showed me round it and I got it into my head I wanted it and it thinking it probably just needed the fuel changing as it had been stood for about a year .
Don't regret buying it as its a ' series landy ' !! They are great fun and every old man needs a toy lol .
Never rebuilt an engine so what the hell nows the time to have a go .

You did change fuel and try to start it before getting this far? Didn’t you:eek::).

J
Ha ha yes, I rebuilt the carb with a kit set timing new plugs, leads points , condenser all the usual things but it would only tick over for a short time took the head off and cleaned and replaced the valve stem seals then head back on but no joy so decided to strip engine. Turns out the boars were worse than I first thought and one of the pistons had a crack down the side of it.
I will post some photos tomorrow

Some photos to look at as asked for yesterday and two of one of the pistons that has damage that I assume is from a dropped valve at some time in its earlier life and probably is a result of the crack down the side

The piston damage doesn't really look like it came from a dropped valve to me?, it looks more like something got in there and got pummelled.
The bearing shells show fairly even wear.

Shell bearings look good , if they’re more worn you would see some copper showing through , was piston rings all present and correct

What do you guys do about gaskets when rebuilding? Do you just use new gaskets or sealant as well and if so which would you recommend please ?

It depends which gaskets. If head gasket, no...though a smear of Hylomar Blue does not hurt. All others, yes. As above, talk to and buy from Turner Engineering...Freda and Richard are both very knowledgeable and always helpful [heaven knows what will happen when they retire :(] Bearing shells look just worn + the crank can be cleaned up with 800-1200 grit with a good lubrication of WD40. Then carefully tri-point measure crank to size up new shells. Shells go in dry to block, but be sure to reassemble shell crank faces/crank journals with plenty of good quality engine lube [Penrite, Permatex LiquidMoly M48, Amsoil.RedLine etc.,] applied to the crank journals.

Re' piston crown, that's not valve contact. Some quite solid object has been having a bang-bang-bang party in that cylinder...and most likely spat out through the exhaust valve. What's the condition of the head underside to cylinder #1 and corresponding valves?

Just got a top and bottom gasket and seals from Turners also got some rebuild oil .
The head was fine no similar dents to the pistons .
Can't help thinking something has happened and a replacement head put on and then put up for sale knowing its knackered
