Landys back!

New injector seals - they seemed fine on removal but replaced anyway.

Glow plugs - 3 dead and the 4th dying. All replaced with Beru.

Seems to be running smoother, two things i dont need to worry about now! :)

All sorted now then? Think I'm gonna have to do mine again, or pay someone this time cuz I obviously fecked sumat up

Wont know till weve got a chilli morning again! I hope so! lol having 4 nee glow plugs that work cant be a bad thing haha

You'd hope so lol 3 of mine were fubar, after first injector washer change I've had 4 new plugs, rebuilt my starter, cleaned all the earths and new fuel and coolant temp sensors. Think I need to bite the bullet with the seals it was last thing I did before same cold start symptoms as yours

Yeah thats why I wasnt messing around. If I had a week off and could be sure it would be alright then Id happily do it myself but need it running asap so worth the cost.

For £18 I thought I would try out Exmoor Trims door seals, instead of £50 odd for Gen LR.

Quality seems good and it fits quite well, bit of fettling and hitting but its gone in quite tight. Looks to have a better seal round the door all round. Bar the bendy bit at the front but the old seal had the same issue.

Shall see how it holds up over the week if its good ill get some rears as well which i desperately need!

I am very interested in how these hold up. Mine could do with replacing.

Big news for once!!

The one and only my Shabs of Syncro boxes has started work on my DURAspec tranny box! :D :D :D

Got that en route plus LOFs Extreme spec clutch kit, LUK DMF ready and waiting too. Plus new engine mounts, gearbox mounts and the various seals (all gen LR)

Sadly not fitting myself, just dont have the time nor the equipement (yet ;)) to do it myself. So it will go to the excellent guys at MC Autocentre in Uckfeild. Dont worry there will still be pics! :D

Should be all done within the next 4 -5 weeks or so (balancing work, money, garage slots etc...)

Quite excited!

DURAspec?

Are you going 6 speed Getrag then?

Exactly. Supposedly much higher quality as well along with a few other upgrades Ashcroft dont offer

Ashcrofts rep has wavered in recent years

Not sure about that but i do know that companies are building off the back of Ashcrofts success and R&D, easy to do because Ashcroft have already set the bench mark for them, so for some people it's easy to justify a bit of extra cash for ultra HD offered elsewhere on the promise of "ULTRA HD, BETTER THAN XYZ" because Ashcroft set the mark in the rebuild cost as it's very labour intensive and others have been able to capitalize on that by offering a variation along the same theme.

Looking forward to seeing you review it's performance.

Fair point thought they work out roughly the same price i think, except the Syncro has other mods and upgrades to it.

Anyway! Had a few hours today so had a go at some welding!

Not too bad for my first go, didnt blow through so thats a bonus.

Beads look ok but need work.

The J is pretty strong, smacked it with a mallet n it didnt break until the 6th smack so not bad too. Thats with zero prep

You need to get rid of all the porosity (small holes) in them welds mate.
