That's a licence restriction which doesn't apply to all licences, though. Also, it DOESN'T say the MAM of the trailer cannot exceed the towing capacity of the vehicle.

Example: A commercial vehicle of unladen weight 3000kg and GVW 4500kg has a towing capacity of 2500kg. The gross train weight is 7000kg. If you have a C1+E licence, you can tow a trailer of MAM 3000kg, but only load it to 2500kg.
 
Bump is that 1000KG the weight of the trailer or the Maximum weight of trailer and load.?? if it's the trailers empty weight then you can't tow it at all as it's MAM will be much higher than that.

There lies the next problem... the trailer was a home build from about 30 years ago and isn't plated. Which makes it illegal to tow in its own right. But only because of the reasons stated about saving plod the job of going to a weigh bridge with you. Which seems wholly unfair.

Wonder if you can buy blank plates on eBay... ... ... ... ... :p

edit: i fooked up its braked trailers with a MAM or up to 3500kg that don't need to be plated

So... my trailer has brakes and weighs less than 3500kg though can carry more than 3500kg... meaning i do or don't need a plate on it?

MAM of a 110 is about 3050kg I think, so max trailer would be 700kg MAM? :confused:

NO you CAN'T!! If your so sure your right despite all the evidence to the contrary Perhaps you can produce some proof???
