Using the defender tunnel with a spot of trimming is a better option as you can then use the correct gaitor ....
You 'may' have to trim the seatbox slightly to endure full operation of the hi/lo diff lock lever

In your pictures have you moved the engine forwards at all? It looks like your transfer box is in exactly the original series position.

Hi Mick, thanks for the clarification, do you mind if I ask another question? I'm trying to think how to best word this, but what's the distance (forwards or backwards) from the point where the bell housing joins the LT77 gearbox to the rear of the under bell housing chassis cross member?

In your picture it looks almost in line / level, from this I can then work out the length of my R380 stubby bell housing and adaptor plate to the very front cross member and know how much space there really is for a V8.

Hmm bit of a squeeze in an 88. But less fun in a 109!

From the back of that crossmember to the face of the gearbox is approx 25mm. Let us know the verdict would be interested.

well, its on the cards for mine, when I dig it out next.
200tdi disco engine and lt77 (already acquired) mated to series transferbox as like others I want to retain the red and yellow sticks :D

need to research disco bellhousing alternatives and what needs swapping, then accumulate the necessary parts.

bit old, but ere's the thread

Yes all looking good it still has the rear prop off waiting for a uj should be here tomorrow but it goes through the gears fine and moves in 4 wheel drive. It is a bit tight in places but all seems fine, hopefully go for a decent run around later.

Hi Texpis, any chance we can swap numbers via PM as I need to discuss the fitting of the 5 speed kit. I'm in the process of fitting the kit but not sure about the h/L lever..
Cheers Andy

You might want to send personal details such as phone numbers via a PM rather than posting them on an open forum. ;)
