Articulation is very important when it comes to std trials but that's more about soft springs because you are limited

If your running HD springs and not carrying weight your passing in the wind any how lifting wheels for no reason
 
With lockers you wouldn't have dropped into the ruts in the first place and driven out

Hehe! The ruts began small enough, so was in them not to make the track any wider than necessary. True what you say about driving out... the D2s traction control tried valiantly, and was probably better than just a CDL because she did get out of the ruts given half a chance. Ultimately, the stock 18 inch LR alloys and A/T tyres can only do so much.

Is articulation worth the effort? Certainly in Radio control rock crawlers too much articulation can be undesirable. (My other truck is a 1/10th scale AXIAL AX-10 Scorpion)
 
Articulation is for bragging to your mates lockers are for going past your mates

Lockers HD shafts drive it hard and then suspension

PS ask how the MIB kit fits (bolt on kit) it took one guy a day to cut and re weld so it actually bolted up and fitted as it shoikd of.

Mib kits are just ****, hence why they've now shut down!!!
I'm running RAC kits and it acutally works, nice people and great service unlike bloody Mib tossers
 
I get what you say about a full articulation kit and it looks good, what I don’t understand is that wheel is just resting on the ground so you wont get much drive from it so is it all for show and no go or am I just no understanding it?.

Get abit of drive but not a great deal of weight on it at all, you'd get further with lockers obviously,
I see it you could save 3k odd and get nearly as far with good articulation and spend it on a decent tyres/ winch that would benefit more surely?
 
I love my articulation..but since I fitted a Detroit rear locker its all become a lot more driveable offroad and combined with the 37s it will go everywhere and more that the guys running 35" simex and trick suspension do..nxt on the list is an lsd for the front :)
 
A back axle hanging off the shocks with no weight therefore no traction is not articulation it's just a very gay thing that 99% of lr owners think improves off-road ability
I'm going to building myself a truck for kov and there ain't going to be no droopy back end on it!

I have a Detroit locker rear and a lock right front both 100% lock up and when on my silly 37 inch offroad tyres was pretty awesome no silly droopy axles just plus 2 inch rear shocks and supple soft springs. Now I'm going to sell the axles inc lockers soon both 4.7:1 because they are more competition based and I want ash lockers that I can turn off for our ALRC trials pitty would be awesome ratio and cheaply upgradable being a Salisbury far can be upgraded quite easily to 30 spline read unbrekae lr with a tdi and nice 4.7:1 ratio
 
Must say I've driven and been driven around in a 88 inch fully locked up lightweight sub 1000kg trials vehicle and I can honestly say it drove everywhere stupid vertical cross axle 40 foot climbs. My 90 is and will always be too heavy to even say it's amazing offroad but it's not bad sva lot of others. These winch motors bolt on 2 tonne of crap then have to winch everywhere which in some instances is laughable but some times nessasary I guess.
 
Salisbury axles lose valuable gnd clearance offroad so there pretty useless
no good having all the lockers in the world if your sat on yr diffs..
the best way to gain clearance is larger tyres..unless you go the portal axle route..
my setup works perfectly and shows up a lot of these so called "competition" guys who build all these trucks with lockers and suspension and stick small tyres on and spend too much time sat on there diffs..;)

Completey gone off topic here slightly,
Spend 3k+ on a full locker set up, or under £500 and get nearly as far lol. All is down to the budget lol.

The challenge truck is 20k area with no saggy back end problems like people are saying, meanwhile my 90 is 4k area with just articulation and a set of fedimas giving it ground clearance can get nearly as far ;)
(Without any winching going on!)

More like $500,000 his prerunner is over $100,000 :D

Mine stands me at about £4K so far and ive only ever got stuck once and that was in 4ft of mud and water at bala guess what would have got me out ......

You don't need silly flex if you can drive and have good tyres
