The Enemy said" why did you bother fixing the red one if you want a newer one?" She does have a point. At least I don't have to rush to buy now. I've heard of a 57 plate Vogue with 37k on the clock and fsh so I'll check that one out.

10 years old and only 37k how long has it sat in a garage broken :eek::eek:

got to worth a look at least :D:D

I'd happily do the do - if someone else pays for it - bank rolls the operation - convinces my boss I need a couple of weeks off - and provides garage space with a ramp!!!

Heartbraking to see it sat so forlorn - If I had the money, time and space.....

Crap that's a sad story.
I was considering buying pre face lifting RR but i keep bumping on stories like this...

This particular issue is as rare as rocking horse poo, in fact the consensus here is that this could be the ONLY 4.4 V8 in the world with a broken crank (and even that has not been properly confirmed AFAIK!!)

This particular vehicle would make an excellent buy for someone who is spanner handy and local'ish, it's got a brand new gearbox and TC amongst many other parts, so if you can get a second hand motor your away, AND it's got a quality LPG system.

If it wasn't so far away from me I'd consider it, but it would have to be well under 2k in my book, as is.

Without this forum, or a plethora of others, there won't come a better time to own one.
Your very own Haynes manual that talks to you with good and sage advice.

If you can't spanner or be willing to try, you won't ever learn, maybe some folks are destined to sign up paying for a miserable Asian 4 wheeled box with a 7 year guarantee, with all the kudos that will bring.

This I believe is why it is not selling - the ad says potential snapped crank - no one is going to take a punt on what is a potential problem - people like specifics so they can judge if they are able/confident/in a position to fix it.

We did advocate dropping the sump to see what's what...but I think the poor chap just wants rid of it - and I feel so very sorry for him.

A range rover classic, series 2-3 or a 200 or 300 tdi land rover would be the best to learn spannering, L322 is not for the beginner. You will also get your money back on these, the L322 is still going downhill in value very fast.

As we all do, we browse the classifieds and online auction sites to gauge the current market for Range Rovers and land Rovers in general - and I have seen the early to mid age L322 price half in the last 6-8 months....it is quite shocking!

I am looking for a daily car that probably will not see off road. Problem is i rather want it to be reliable, i sometimes do 1k miles trips 120 miles non-stop on motorway (i live in continental Europe - LHD).
I have garage, lots of spanners, even hydraulic ramp etc I can do some work on it myself, just don`t want to spend every weekend there - I already got my project car :) and definitely don`t won`t to wrench on it at the side of the road.

As I see this there are two options. Buy used one with somewhat documented service history for 4k or one with rebuild transmission and replaced air suspension for 8k. I can also buy face lift model `08~ for about 11k also with rebuild transmission etc but that's top of my budget and I am afraid that it will swallow same amount of money for repairs.

TBH because of this thread I almost bought Pajero Dakar from 2005 last Sunday but when i drove it and heard the noise this 4 cylinder diesel made I knew this wasn`t a car for me for a daily commute.
