That will be an interesting comparison @LandyMan - I look forward to seeing the results :)

Yes I would like to see that too

No probs.

Oo, my heated front screen wasn't working, checked the fuses, all fine! So plugged in nanocom, found the BCU section, scrolled through, found heated front screen wasn't enabled, so enabled it, saved the ecu data....

& I now have a working heated front screen :)

Does anyone know if it is possible to get hold of remap files from somewhere (or from someone that has had a remap done), and then use the nanocom to transfer the files?

ah ok, but with the right software could we edit the map and upload it? if so, what sort of software is needed?

Yeah, huffhuff posted it up. Again with that comes many pitfalls, if you don't know what your doing 100% you could brick the ECU or worse totally ruin the engine on start up or ruin it in the long run. I was considering it when I fit a bigger turbo next year but its just not worth it imo

I mentioned this a few pages back, gives a website with download maps for TD5 and an application to change the map characteristics yourself etc.. I am in no way advising or condoning. You are a big boy, you make your own decisions ;) Bear in mind it could result in a bricked ECU or engine going bang bang!

I thought it would be good practice to have my map downloaded as a 'backup' along with everything else, security codes, injector info etc.. However my ECU is sightly too old (does not have the programmable chip as standard) so I cannot even back up the map.

Ha, what he said (what I said).

How do you back up all that info? Could be useful

Awesome thanks guys.

you mentioned generic maps that are available but not tailored, having a few generic maps that you could swap and change on the go would be quite good, ie

Map 1: standard / backup
Map 2: Speed
Map 3: Torque
Map 4: Fuel economy

etc, etc

That way, if you're out and about doing different stuff you could just use a generic map for what you need at that time

I agree with the comments made here about generic maps, but I was looking at some of the stuff and it seems there are people who already thought of the change maps on the fly idea, as with the others I don't condone but look :

That is an awful lot of p issing about though to save a few ££

Well, I didn't get mine to work as wrong ECU (even though I have had a new writable chip soldered on - ECU doesn't register that). It should be along the lines of Defender > TD5 > TD5 Map > Read MAP from ECU > Then I guessed a 'floppy/save' icon would appear.

You can read about the process here; http://nanocom-diagnostics.com/downloads/2100414657.pdf (pay attention to the warnings in RED)

Hi All,

Well after having an enforced holiday from driving, I finally had the chance to connect the nanocom to my Disco.

looking at the data, can anyone let me know what sort of air inlet temperatures they are getting? with an ambient of 18 C I am seeing approx 50 to 57 C.
Also are there any set running conditions to see a particular MAF reading on a std car. i.e half throttle, which gear , RPM, on flat ?

Finally, does anyong know why the EGR and wastegate do not record on every line?

Cheers

neil

Bit of a necropost but anyone interested a windscreen mount for the Nanocom? I bought one but havnt used it and really don't need more stuff on my windscreen! PM me if anyones interested.

I know its been a while now, and we have all had a chance to play with the new toy, I like mine and looking at the price now seems we all made a good move to buy when we did.

I had a small blue "tune up" add on box on my ECU of my 2001, TD5 90, 15P, which I did not like, so I removed it, it seems to go OK but the exhaust tail pipe is always coated heavily with soot inside even after a good run and my exhaust puffs smoke when I change gear, I started to wonder what map is in my ECU.

Just wanted to ask if anyone had downloaded a backup of the standard map from a TD5 15P and saved the file, and would anyone be willing to share copy?
Just wanted to try the engine with a known good standard map to see if its the software or if there is a hardware issue I need to start chasing down.

Hi all,

I can see that a few months ago there was a successful nanocom group buy!

Anybody interested in doing another one? I'd love a unit, but the £308 price tag makes it hard for me to get past the finance department... if you know what I mean ;)

The following discounts are available (as per the nanocom website) which make it a little easier to swallow;

- 1 to 4 Kits = 0% discount
- 5 to 9 Kits = 10% discount (that makes it £277 per unit)
- 10 to 19 Kits = 20% discount (that makes it £246 per unit)
- 20+ Kits = 22.5% discount (that makes it £238 per unit)

If we can all get our heads together, I don't mind doing the leg work. I've not spoken to the chap yet, so not sure about delivery costs. But like I say, i'm more than happy to do the arsing about, organising and phone calls etc. as long as I can get confirmed/genuine people onboard.

Let me know,

Ben
