If it's worse further on then it shouldn't be driven......or am I missing something?

and if it is an unknown lane it should be walked first...

this thread is REALLY boring read at work - i'll have to read it again at home where I can actually see the pictures!

Yeah, ok, horse and bolted and all that :p

From the seat it looked fine on the way in, bit muddy, but wasn't expecting that :)

vid of it

not sure muds/more aggressive tyres would have helped much, the lft hand side sank in what was essentially muddy water and left me sat on my diffs.

I live and learn, next time Ill take a walk, and have some proper rope with me :) and might have to look at some waffles, and a high lift, and all sorts of other stuff...

THEN learn how to use it :)

Yes it should but none of us are perfik

Thats not quite the same as taking a group on a lane you KNOW you're going to make a helluva mess of....but like I said maybe I've missed something....which is why I asked

We not been on that lane before, yes sue did mention Neil got stuck when he want along it, but tbh, I've been down other lanes that someone's been stuck on at some time or another...

We didn't find out about it getting worse further down till zip got there (who'd been with Neil before)

I'd never be going down lanes I thought I had a good chance of being stuck down with just me and sue, were both still relatively new to this, and I take my 8 y/o out with me alot, and I would never do something to endanger him/get him stranded anywhere. Which is why after both my straps decided they didnt like it we called for help, we might have got away with sues straps, but sue would have been on the very edge of where it started to be boggy, then we could have both easily ended up stuck.

twas all a bit fun in the end. the second was driver error, pure and simple, avoiding a ditch on the left, over compensated and ended up in the one on the right.

We've all done it... but, it's still very easy to comment on "mistakes" you made from the warmth and comfort of the office (I use comfort is the loosest of senses, i hate being in the office)

Not having a go at you, things happen and folk get stuck, sometimes it makes a mess getting out....Just the way it is. Thats very different to seeking out

Didn't think you were, sorry if it came across that way. :D

The amount of mud and bog that's there, I'm pretty sure that most of that will settle out very quickly, if not the next decent bit of rain will help it along.

Still want to know what happened to whatever else had been down there recently, cos there were some now overly old tyre tracks there already... maybe hes still down there, under the mud...

I think, with better equipment and a good line, knowing it's fragile and prone to bogginess, that it can be driven.

We might see later this month .. ;)

Just like to point out that we didn't do it on purpose.

I am only teasing Tim about it being his fault. I did tell him Neil and Zip got stuck but he thought it was in wet winter weather and it would be OK in summer. And I followed him , perhaps not all the way into the bog, but I would have done if he hadn't got stuck.

I had checked it out on trailwise and there was only one comment about someone turning back cause they were on their own. It was going to be part of the Sunday Dales route until Neil suggested it wasn't a good idea.

We wouldn't choose to damage a lane, I certainly wont try it again

happens to the best of us sue one week it can be dry as hell and the next its undriverble just bad luck

Well we won't be doing it soon anyway .. I checked the site we're using and the lane and it's quite a way from the routes we're likely doing. We're more North Yorks Moors side .. East of Pickering.

Think there's only me without diff-locks .. but that's never stopped me before!!! :)

while i'm not saying don't drive it, but reckon if it was tried theres gonna be quite a bit of mess as the bogs have returned to their natural state.
its a legit lane, (or was last time I looked) so theoretically possible, just be aware of the potential of gloopyness.
tis also in a popular recreational walking area.......
