Yea its actually going ALRC Legal maybe even RTV it next year get the three comps in and keep busy but its no Team recovery motor its far too heavy and "I Must not swear" its a .......Diesel!

Id like to do team recovery just need a team mate ;)

Yeah ill probably join P&D when shes finished, need to get a alrc pogbook though. How do I go about aquiring one ?

Tempted to build a deducated basic trialer I know where theres a few old series parked in a shed complete with cages ready to go trialing so might be worth an offer. One of my mates sold a tomcat just before I got back for not alot would have loved that :/

Go on the ALRC web site look under Regulations and make sure you comply, then when you join a club you need to get two log book scrut's to inspect your motor and sign it off.

Before you build a trialer go to some events and look what is winning. Eckington is next weekend, trial is on Sat.

That's just excuses :) a 90 is probably the best standard motor to do team wreaking in and as for diesel, it's not all about speed, mostly it's planning and the more teams that enter the more the spectators have to laugh at :D
Having said that when we won the national TR two RRC's took 20 mins and we did it in 1:58

There seems to be a parting of the ways with CCV and Comp Safari motors in the ALRC. Top trialers have 80" wb with a big V8 over the front axel a BW transfer box and a narrow track rear with "A" frame and a relativly high driving position, whereas compers are 88" with the engine set well back, radius arms all round and lower. There are Master drivers championships that combine trial and comp results so hopfully folks still enter both events which I will do but my motor is more comper than trials machine.

Mine will be 88" with V8 out front and LT95

Just like my first one, I didn't even take the engine or box out, just removed the body, left the bulkhead, shortened the chassis and built a series one body on it job done.

Honestly..... Its not at the moment. My bro is fitting a chassis and V8 to Spydermans 88 his dying wish was for it to be completed and him and my bro had a deal so the family have kept with the original deal so that's a priority. Once that is done my 80 will go around to bro's house and worked on in a nice garage. I'm currently doing my 90 getting it de lockered and sorted for AROC regs and a better tow motor.

Fed up of working outside if I'm honest apparently a couple of days work the welding should be done and I can faff around with bodywork outside and tidy the wiring plus my bro can weld and im a not confident on chassis work. Body no probs

Should have it done tho!

80 but i will be a granny speed more the taking part than actually competing!! 80 + rear Salisbury is just asking for trouble! If I keep it the right way up I'll be doing well. My bro should have his 90 but again its been nearly 20 years since he has driven comp.

Yes take it steady, V8 leafers are handful. I haven't comped an 80" just a 86" and not a Sailsbury rear either. must be like a V8 coracle

That's a thought jai, maybe A could fix my bulkhead pillar. Like you I am not confident about welding have got not tried it for 20 years, despite finally getting the big Cebora 85 back from my brother last year

That bulkhead repair shouldn't be too bad. We all have jibe to get done for the Nats eek!!

Owl still has the nicest motor I've seen for a while!!

I think that the engine position on most 80s is as much to do with the length of the drivetrain. Without getting creative with 101 bell housings, series boxes etc the issue is getting a sensible length rear prop shaft & the front of the engine ends up where it does...
