Hi. ive got a long journey planned this week (south wales to Harrogate and back) and was looking for a little advice/reassurance. Firstly the car has developed an annoying trait of rising up to wade height on its own. It only happens when i'm going up hill and turning at the same time, usually in multi story car parks. If i push the height selector back down it settles and is generally fine for the rest of the journey. I've also noticed that after being stopped for a short time, when i get back in its at wade height. It does sink very slowly over night but always jumps straight back up as soon as i start it. I'm thinking its something to do with sticking valves in the block that are perhaps not opening / closing fully. Could this be right and am i right in thinking it shouldnt cause a major problem when doing motorway miles. The pump doesnt seem to be getting too hot.
Oh & secondly my CD cassette wont eject. Any clues?
 
My eas acts up a bit.
If I am going for a long journey, when the eas sets onto motorway height, i hit the button on the dash that holds it.
Then I remove the timer relay from under the passenger seat( pull over to do this:)), this freezes the suspension.
It does put up some warning lights and messages, but as long as your bags don't leak it will stay there for weeks.

If it does lower a little over time just put the relay back in let it pump up and remove.
Or you can use the eas software to set the height, and then remove the relay.
It's not a cure, but will give you peace of mind while your away. I also bring a laptop and eas cable with me when going away from home.

I had the intermittent problem of rising to wade height a while back, then bought a Nanocom which identified a faulty height sensor.

Replaced faulty sensor, never had a problem since.

Maybe someone near you has a diagnostics kit which could point you in the right direction. You don't need a full-blown diagnostics kit for EAS.

If you press the 'hold' button first you can select the motorway height without getting up to speed. As for removing the delay relay, that only comes into play when the car levels itself after you have switched off.

For the OP I'd concentrate more on the routine checks of water, oil, tyres etc. My Rangie does Bristol to Perth regularly with no dramas.

A properly maintained vehicle should not be a cause for concern " don't fix it till it's broke" will not get you by.

And roadside assistance is peace of mind should anything break :rolleyes:

What it will not be is sticking valves, worn O rings maybe, but it would be odd for all 4 corners to have the same proble. Much more likely a height sensor or connector, as well as the connectors others have mentioned, clean all the heights sensor connectors.
If you havn't got one, get the EAS cable and free software, I always carry the laptop and EAS diagnostics, rarely need it but it's good to have with me.
If it sinks over night, there is probably a leak and the airbags are original they will need replacing.

Thanks for all the advice. Dont think its the white plugs behind the kick panel (as they look fine). Also i changed all the o rings in the valve block about 8 months ago. I did notice that the white stuff in the air dryer was soaking wet. I dried it out (as recommended) but is that normal. I've also cleaned all the plugs linked to the height sensors. Ive got the eas unlock suite and the sensors all appear normal. I'll take it with me just in case.
Think i'll change the front bags (original) when i get home.
 
Is there a small hole into which you can insert a pin to override and eject, similar to the disc port on your computer ? don't know ,just guessing. Too late to go and have a look or check my manual:)

There is a hole for just that, my old one did it once, welding rod sorted it, never happened again:)
