Everytime i press the breakpeddle these lights show up on the instument panel then go out does anyone no the reason for this an how i can resolve it thanks, this is a p38 2001 vougue v8

No, Ive not had this fault, but I am 99 % certain this is your problem. The accumulator is the spherical shaped thing sitting on top of the ABS pump which is located on the left hand side of the engine bay. It has a yellow safety warning on it. Yes it will require a new one, they are not repairable.

is it just the round ball shape thing or is it the pump bit inderneath to just cant really see what could go wrong with a round metal ball any help lol

Yes it's just the ball bit as you put it. It's the diaphram inside that maintains the pressure that fails:eek:

The round ball thing that you think you can't go wrong with has inside it a bladder. That bladder is filled with Nitrogen at pressure, the pump pumps brake fluid into the ball against the pressure in the bladder. That is why it is called an accumilator because it accumilates fluid at pressure, ready for use by the braking system. Basically it stores high pressure fluid. If the bladder bursts the pump will still pump upto it's shut off pressure. But when you put the brake on all the pressure is lost so your warning lamp comes on so does the pump to pressurise the now useless steel ball again. And again, and again, and again. Change it.

right this sounds good so i will change the ball thing lol. when i press the break peddle ithe three lights come on with the pump then when the pump goes off the lights go off to does this still sound right

SPOT ON that man!!!!.............. Accumilator Diaphragm is fooked & as you cannot replace the Diaphragm a new Accumilator is required!!!

Don't forget to depressurize the system before you try to remove the sphere! Repeatedly press the brake pedal per the book (ignition off).

I have just changed mine : it's dead easy. get your new one ( (approx £85.00 ) : depressurise system by depressing brake pedal approx 30 times with IGNITION OFF : wait 60 secs and press four more times...IGNITION OFF.
Put a chain wrench round canister and unscrew. (Have a clean cloth around the base when you do so in case a small amount of fuel leaks.) Screw in new one : tighten with chain wrench. Job done.
I did not have to bleed brakes.....simples
