Cheers for the offer mate but I've been having a sort out today and found one I'd forgot about. Not the best but it'll hammer straight hopefully :D
Will give you a shout if I decide mines to mangled though :)

So as I said yesterday I'm being forced to have a sort out

Anyway I found a standard bumper I had forgot about. It's a bit rough and slightly bent but at least it gives me an idea of what it'll look like and weather to straighten it out and give it a paint or get a new/secondhand one.

So what you recon?

I then dug my back door out as I couldn't remember if it was rotten or not.
Well I gave it a good poke with a hammer and screwdriver and made some holes

Any way I realised I had about £100 in my paypal account that I didn't know was in there, So I've ordered a repair section for it along with 1litre of gloss black for the roof :D and a few other odds and sods.

Will probably look fine when newly painted black. Hard to tell any damage in the picture, so hard to comment on how that looks.

Keep going mate! Might get a donations page set up for ya :p

Yep I'm trying mate, I've got most things to finish it now. Biggest expense will be a set of shocks. To be honest I could stick some old tatty ones on but I'm not one for doing things by halves and will order some new ones soon.

It's more to see if the standard bumper looks ok as it looked a bit crap when I tried the winch bumper on that was on it before.

To be honest I think it looks better standard and as you say will be better when it's painted.

I think it'd be a shame to put a battered bumper on it for what they cost after all that work

You might regret a black roof in August , there's a reason they paint them white

Bumper is mainly to see if I like it standard or to look for something else.
When it's done there won't be a battered bumper on ;)

I've never really noticed the difference and for how long it stays hot for in this country a black roof doesn't bother me.

Landys have that much ventilation you don't need to worry about the heat inside i have a black roof and the whole inside is insulated and carpeted and mine is not to hot inside in summer.

A few thoughts:
Do you really think you've spent in the region of 6k?
Why did you decide not to T wash and paint the chassis?
My vote, from page 38, stays the same. White roof :-D
Looks classier and more authentic

Exactly my thoughts :tea: Should be fine.

That comment was made as an exaggeration, It's not 6k just to rebuild But it's at least 6k including the original cost of the vehicle. You've only got to look at the cost of good second hand panels to see where the money has gone. And £1200 on a chassis. You're doing a rebuild your self so I'm sure you know all the little bits soon add up.
I've had a few orders with lr direct with what seemed to be made up of nuts, bolts, washers, screws, seals and gaskets, bearings etc... and its £250

Chassis was left as i like the bare galv look :D If I've spent £1200 on something so its nice to see it in all it's glory. This also means the thieves can see it but I'll take that chance.

White is more authentic but I couldn't make my mind up and the spats are black so thought I'd do them the same. But that's the good thing about doing my own paint, If i don't like it black it'll only cost me £20 to change it :)

Hi mate still looks good. You dont have to explain too anybody how much you spent mate only you will know the true figure.
I still think black roof aswell mate would suit it best. But my personal taste is that i dont like the black gloss spats:eek: it would suit it body colour gloss finish but if black i would of done the matt finish.

Hello mate, Cheers :) I did try the spats body colour as I think it looks more standard but it was just to much (in my mind anyway) When I look at the pics now I kind of think I should have left them unpainted but it's to late now.

To be honest mate I don't know the figures myself it's only a guestimate.
Which I actually don't mind revealing as if anyone is thinking about rebuilding one it will give them an idea how much it really costs. I could of gone further but there isn't a bottomless pit of money and it would have been preventive maintenance which I'm happy to deal with as and when it happens.

I'd think to do it at the standard you've done it to would be at least £5,000 in labour

If there's 2 men on it @ £70-80 an hour between them it doesn't take long to get to that kind of money

Watching wheeler dealers they regularly seem to pay 3k for a respray when it looks like ED has done most of the prep

Prep is THE big thing. I've just finished restoring my motorbike and the tank/mudguard/seat surround/air box covers were all about preparation. Once they were done so that they were perfect I handed them to my next door neighbour who brought them back next day so that you could see your face in them! Total cost from neighbour £100 inc metallic paint, thinners, buffing and labour (less than day).

Sure does soon add up but at least my time is free :D
