I need to order some bits for my 2.25 diesel engine can any tell me how to tell if it's 5 bearing or a three bearing without taking the sump off cheers

3 bearing block has smooth sides and the 5 bearing has strengthening ribs cast in

If you pop the engine number up here someone should be able to identify it. This number will help when ordering parts off the net.

Look on the passenger side of the engine where the dipstick is and just above the sump you should see some ribbing. I think 5 ribs mean 5 bearing and 3 ribs 3 bearing.
But as said above it might be just with ribs is 5 bearing.

Sorry it's been awhile thanks to all for the help turns out it's a 3 bearing

for information the difference between 3 and 5 bearing is the band just above sump face same on both sides
