We didn't have THAT much snow here, enough for a few home carers to write their cars off, and for vulnerable people to suffer without their meals on wheels.

I went out for a day doing meals on wheels deliveries, all fuel expenses paid, so yes i did give my time to "the government or society" but it's my time to do what i choose with it. if i want to go out and help deliver meals on wheels to help people, or drive a carer round all night so that 20 elderly people don't have to sit in their own secretions all evening, then that’s what i'm going to do and anyone who wishes to slag me off, or call me names or make out i'm going to strut round with a car covered in flashing lights, then really we already know what that sort of person is, a very selfish and pathetic one.

I've enjoyed my time out and about volunteering my time and my vehicle to help others. Had it not been for some of the 4x4 responders then some people wouldn’t have a mum/dad/brother/daughter to spend the rest of the year with.

Those of you who oppose to it or want to slag us off - sod ya, but i bet you'd be glad for a person in a hi-vis jacket with lots of flashing lights strutting right up to your door with a paramedic to save the life of one of your loved ones............

Well said. I am in the process of joining W4x4R. Lined uo to attend a meeting. Its all thanks to this thread that did it anaw. :D:D:D

OK Have read much of the thread but not all of it since I am slowly losing the will to live. (The first git who says "good" get's a serioius kick in the nuts!)

The basic question is really simple... if you have the capability to help someone, AND you are qualified or sensible enough to do it safely, whether that be carrying a nurse to a patient or pulling someone out of trouble or as Kai and I did last month... simply doing the shopping for the elderly neighbors... do you do it.

If you say "No" then you are missing the point of the whole thing. We have equipment that can sometimes help someone, why wouldn't we?

Remember... it could be your son/daughter/wife who needs help. I know some of the guys on here would drive miles to help me out in that position... why would I not help someone else? Just can't get my head around the "F*ck everyone else if I'm not being paid" attitude.
