I'd like to supercharge mine eventually

One of those "well I've done everything else so might aswell" kinda things

One for the future

Nice cheap easy power, not even looking to make it a beast, just 250bhp would do me :)

I dont think I could do a 3.5 with charger for under 1k, tbh just to rebuild a 3.5 properly is that much if you add all new rocker gear and have the heads skimmed if needed. half the stuff I did was upgrades to like I spent £330 just on arp stud kits which I could do on a 3.5 if I wanted too.

and how would I fuel a s/c engine? thats grand right there in m/s which I havent a clue how to fit and dont want to either so although I respect you as an engineer I think your prices are way off zen mate.

We all know how these projects grow budget wise, I mean yours is on its 2nd or 3rd paint job now? and its second engine (third if you could your own re-build) in your ownership alone and you have not even used it yet.

rebore 60
cam bearings 30
cam and lifters 300
main stud kit 110
head stud kit 90
big end bolt kit 80
main shells 100
big end shells freebie
head gaskets 30
carbie and rebuild 100 (cheers rappy :D)
pistons £270 oem NOS, find em cheaper that arnt ****e I dare you.
valley cover and other gaskets etc 67
headskim all new steel rocker gear from turners £300, (thanks for the heads james)
total £1536

I had to buy it which was £460

which makes £2000 then I had the joys of stuff like the ****e heads that wasted £300 and a lot of time and vat, shipping, import duty, oils filter lubes and sealants to add in and as I pay for all that unlike u zen ;) it makes it around £2500.

I hope that meets with you approval sir

100 for a charger? Dream on! All the ones I've been watching in eBay have gone for 300 plus

i like tthe fact that you are mad enough to put caddy lump in a series.

but keep your incorrect assumptions to yourself..that applies to all of you who have not/will not even rebuild an engine let alone boost one..

KEEP your eyes open..look in ebay, but spell word wrong. look in wrong sections etc..to which..i paid...ebay..

m112 brand new..in wrapper i bought it..sits on sally's engine £250

m112 not brand new but a1 sits on ..see below £124.bought nov 2013..ebay..

so annoying...i have feck all money...i know what i talking about..sub 1000 for boosted reliable 3.5...the one in pic is 4.6, thats cost way way less..sub 400 for 400hp boosted 1uz...

so...300 for cam and lifters...140 for real steel cam. 50 for oem lifters(autopost)..100 saved
main and head stud kit..not required..how many 3.5's have problems there???..new bolts would have done...??
main shells 100!! for a 3.5??? yes i know yours 4.4, but i am talking about 3.5..so...you could get the whole lot for that plus still get ****ed at pub!
pistons...£128 real steel..not needed if just rering???
all new steel rocker shafts and rockers..£67..autopost..ask for paolo
head skim..30 a side..(if that) dartford rebores..100 a side at gosneys!!
supercharger..£100-150..an m90 would do for a 3.5..but m112 are easier to find.
manifold...well use efi..then very very easy..£10 plus mig wire and gas.

so assuming you have a 3,5 to start with...sub 1000 is rather easy..

cant comment on carb rebuild...dont do carbs no more..efi..

really not knocking your efforts john...i admire and encourage sillyness..and fitting a 4.4 imorted from aus is certainly silly!but fun..and difficult(ish) as like that ****e gmc of mine nothing is available off the shelf!..just think it would have been easier and cheaper to fit top hat linered 4.6...

firstly didnt you just pain your 4.6 not re-build it.

dont know feck all about efi but would hotwire run an s/c engine? I wouldnt even fit hotwire tbh as want no efi on the car

all those bits are the poo made in mexico ones and are not going in my motor mate, you can buy cheaper bits but I wont as I want it to last. Plus like I said nothings ever straight forward and you multiple engines, engine re-builds and paint jobs and gerboxes show that and as we all know thats where most of the money goes- feckups! lol

dont you like efi

Does anyone ever fit Rotrex?

Just that they are fairly simple to rig up, without the need for fancy manifolds etc.

Well zen if you can find me an M112 going heap by all means send me a link! Or even those to the ones you've won so we can see them! Just finding it rather hard to believe

James no I dont like efi mate, prefer field fixability of carbs after having both.

zen its £2700 for a 4.6 engine from turners vat would add another £540 so thats

£3240 plus delivery and I would need to buy a core exchange unit.

plus I wanted to re-build a v8, that was really the point, I wanted to do it myself- there is nothing wrong with the 3.5 in the car- I just wanted to.

the 4.6 has been stripped and inspected rebuilt now...hense new rockers cam etc..

any efi will run s/c, but i admit aftermarket efi is best....now speaking to LR on monday re reprogramming gems ecu...gonna try and blag as much info as i can...you never know..

i know we never gonna agree on this subject as we after different aims..however the parts i sourced/listed are not mexico/chingwig etc but for instance..real steel cam is usa imported blank ground by them..tappets are same factory as gen LR..pistons are usa made etc...(so they tell me)..re autopost..talk to paolo..he is very helpful and genuine...ie knows his stuff, dont lie..

so john...i have left over medium and thick shims for pedestalls...and 2 dti's to use..anything else you need i may have??

oh and the gearboxs..i just kill them..though the current ashcroft lt85 is doing good!!!changing oil every 1000miles though or if i cruch a gear (get it wrong) straight after that!!

There supposed to be good Sam, the Mercs use that sort.
1k is sill underestimated! I'de say 1500 is realistic. still cheaper, but its new territory for most.
I've been half tempted to fit on like Sam said but the extra heat is an issue and also.. do I need it?

ok i prefer it myself ,top hat liners is the only issue with 4.6 ,now i cant do them myself its 1k

the £50 cam from r/s and the lifters from them are made and ground in mexico mate- they told me themselves I have talked to them a lot! tbh the gen lr lifters are prob made in mexico too which is a step up from Pakistan or china where cheap BP ones are made!

No good rv8 pistons are made now since ae was swallowed up by fm they are made in tiawan- again hours of research and phone calls, thats why I went to great lengths to get NOS.

like I said earlier in the thread, I did heaps of re-search (have a read back) and there is only one lifter factory not in the third world now and thats a fact! and its hylift johnson in america and they are small!!!! very occasionally boxed as delphi but not often. anything else is third world.

yes I need shims and dtis and extreme instructions mate! :D
