cast, so would think softish.

And the ARP stud kit needs line boring according to instructions, a bit of blue and a check is surely better than knocking it's tits off at a few thousand miles?

If it does need boring and you cant find anyone down south theres a guy up here who does excellent work if you're planning on being up north any point soon. Proper old school workshop filled with all the engine machines so he probably still does it as the place has been open for over 30 years now

Lancaster Engines - UK block boring, re-sleeving & honing, con rod balancing, cylinder head skimming

Rebuilds everything from Scania engines to Mini's and bikes. He's the one that did my pinion as well as a few guys complete engines for defenders

there people near me who do it,but not cheap!!last engine rebuild maching by dem was 5k !!!!but that was rather industrial..

so dont panic Fett...it will work out fine...its not like you have ran it up yet...

must blue bearings...this to check if caps or bearings have distorted by doing up to 110...
if they have then you will have to get line bored to correct and then torque to 110..or junk it..(not an option)
if they are good..ie similar 360 degree then do up to less than 110..80 was suggested by arp in that artical i thinks?
though i would imagine stanard lr torque would be fine..it is an lr!..it should make no difference if using studs or bolts...
i would use metal locking nuts with threadlock..they will not unwind.

nyloc was common later but means nothing either will do

5k what was that for

we are all up late for a school night :p

fanny yes they are at 110 as we speak, as per arp and rs latest amended instructions.

zen. RS mentioned in passing that line boring is £280 but that may be wrong and they have a 6 YEAR waiting list  so only fit jobs in when they can, plus getting it there and back in piece wont be easy

efi I hope they are not distorted but my be an easier fix than a distorted block tbh

we talked about std torque before how come you never tried it

I did mate and it turned nicely although I am not sure wat it was doing to the shells, however real steel and arp said no good and the engine would fail after a short time :(

if you were revving the tits off it everywhere.

I wont but ive got £2.5k in it so far so if it ever went bang and I could avoid that now it would be good lol

thanks mark, bit worried about safe shipping for it as there are only a handful of these blocks in the uk

Thanks mark, not sure how that would work atm but if I end up your way or you and pete come down I would be very grateful :)

Come on Pete priorities :p

Yes indeed, we could lug that block back if we get down, just got a bit involved after a quite period in the factory.
