my 300tdi is 94 l and 135k but it has just had the belt changed and new power steering pump.

taking it out on my first trip with power power steering and when you accelerate it it jumping like it is losing power for just a second.

itl go from 3000rpm to 2000rpm bk up then b ok for a second then does the same unless you let off completely then just tickle the accelerater.have no clue wat is up with it.

any help on wat it could be.

have taken the air filter out and cleaned it.and put fuel in it.so thought i would see wat you guys can think of

You might not be getting enough fuel through or possibly have air in the fuel line?
My disco was very sluggish so i changed the lift pump and it made a huge difference.

Thanks daz how much is a lift pump.n how do ucheck the fuel lines

Lift pumps are cheap on ebay but get a DELPHI one as they are better than the cheap ones. You can fit a piece of clear plastic pipe or a small clear filter body in the fuel line between the fuel filter and the injection pump. If you have got air in the fuel you'll see it.

i had a similar sounding fault with my 97 jap 300tdi,it would rev up to a certain point,then die back,then up again,it took me months of trial and error to fix it,i found that the turbo wastegate was failing to operate,I fitted a small rubber pipe to wastegate actuator and a bicycle pump to that,pumped it up, the valve didnt move the first time,with quite a lot of pressure,so Iknew i was on to something,tried again with more pressure,then it popped open.tried again,and it opened with less than 20psi,and opened every time,car has gone fine since.

It was broken wire on injector pump.
