I have no way to do that but the Bosch VE should be capable of sucking enough fuel from a jar right beside it , considering it normally has to suck it all the way from the tank and through a filter .
Rocker shaft is fine . Looks like I'll have to remove the injection pump and have it checked . I'll remove the inspection cover on the front cover and check the pump timing first .

Managed to run the engine today with no fuel being supplied to the injection pump !
I installed a new lift pump which is on the homebrew line . It now starts and runs but bogs down and starves if revved . The more you rev it the less comes out of the return pipe . New filter and all lines clear . I detached the feed from that tank and connected the hose from the diesel tank . Started up no problem but the same issue , except nothing was coming out of the return pipe . Next I hooked it up to a jar of diesel straight into the injection pump . Started up no bother but no fuel was drawn from the jar and none came out of the return ..
