Hi all,

despite lots of advice in my thread here
http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/300tdi-crank-locking-tool-120072.html
It appears i have now made the wrong tool after all:mad::mad::mad:

I had the bonnet up tonight to give it all a good spray with the WD in anticipation of the work tomorrow but upon gettinmgh under and looking at the pulley, i see no bolts holding the pulley to the damper, it appears to be one piece, there are however 4 holes around the bolt which would suggest that i was right all along and it DOES need the tool outlined in my post.

Does anyone know the dimensions for this bloody tool:confused::confused:

It looks like the jobs off as i will need to make a correct tool now.:(

When I did mine,I used breaker bar and starter motor to undo crank nut-I did by a kit with puller to remove the crank pulley, but when I put the puller on the pulley,it just slid off the crankshaft so wasn't needed.Might be worth removing nut to see if pulley will just pull off-if it does you are good to go.
I torqued up the crank nut using gearbox, handbrake and breaker bar

For a 300 you need a big socket and breaker for the crank nut, turn engine over with it locked against chassis. Then either an extractor tool or big crow bar if your lucky and it's not welded stuck. Careful though I went for the later approach too many times and now have a big hole in the front cover

ooooo.
It appears that the 300TDi and 200TDi have differing pulleys - the tool I was describing before is supposed to do both  but reading the small print, it sez "an adapter is also required for 300TDi injuns".

looks like you need that tube as well
