Hi all

I tried turning my boost up today but not much seems to be happening. I plumbed in a boost gauge and went for a ride to check the standard set up, it boosted up to 16psi and held it spot on, I was happy at that. So then I adjusted the actuator rod by 2 full turns, when I tried it again it was not much different, it boosted to just over 16psi but dropped instantly back to 16 and stayed there. So I turned the boost pin round to max (it was half way between max and standard before) to make sure it was getting enough fuel, but it made no difference. So I turned the actuator up another 2 turns and it was shooting up to about 18/19psi but again dropping instantly back down to 16. So I turned the main fuel screw up a turn and it went better and smokes but I don't think any improvement was from boost

So has anyone any ideas on why the boost is not holding at an increased amount please???

Cheers

Oh yeah, I keep meaning to ask...why do some people have a green bit in the top left of their profile picture, been bugging me for ages

Ah ok that makes sense, thanks

Update on the boost issue aswell...I turned the actuator up another 2 turns and still no joy. So I got Mityvac out and checked all necessary things and all was ok, no loss of pressure anywhere. Anyway, I ended up turning the star wheel 1 full turn and BINGO it now holds 18 psi with no loss of boost.

By the way, wot would you all recommend as been the maximum safe boost pressure for a 300tdi

Thanks

Anyone got any info on max safe boost and exhaust temps please

Towsey

Not sure on the boost pressure, but from memory i don't think you want the exhaust gas temp to get above 700. When I get to 600 i lift off and it drop back down quickly.

Nice one cheers mate, I've not had an egt gauge before. So wot sort of temps do ya see on normalish driving then?

Towsey

Hi all

I'm fitting an egt gauge but I was just wondering if anyone who has one fitted already has any guideline temperatures they can share with me please. Would you please say if it's normal driving temp or working hard or whatever please

Thanks
